I walked down the aisle to Pachabel’s Canon in D, since the church didn’t allow “secular” music.  Not quite a hymn, but not “Here Comes the Bride” either.  We used “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” for the bridesmaids, and it was beautiful.  All played on organ only.

I love Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring on an organ.

I would check out “O God Beyond All Praising,” also goes by the title “Thaxted,” and if you’re familiar with Holst’s The Planets Suite, it’s the theme from the “Jupiter” section. Absolutely beautiful lyrics, and it would work very well as a fanfare/processional, too.

How about “How Great Thou Art”?

I am walking down the aisle to Thaxted. We chose it because my fiance is English and it’s most famous as the great English hymn ‘I Vow to Thee My Country’. I love it!
