I hear ya, I love my last name! Its hard for me to get rid of it but the idea of hyphenating seems difficult. I actually like the ring of how your name will be. Mine would be so not 'flowy'. I think your name will fit on documentation/ID's/credit cards. My other concern was that with a longer name there could be more of a chance that people may get it wrong.
Haha I know what you mean about misspellings. Honestly, people already butcher Moorehead to death... it probably won't be too different adding a portion that people SHOULD (in theory) know how to spell.
I am going to hyphenate my name....it will be a total of like 16 letters...its just so long...!!!
I'm just getting rid of my last name and taking his. I hate mine, so I'm excited to be rid of it! I love the way your new last name sounds, btw!
My first & last name hyphenated will be 20 characters. :)
First(8) + MyLast (5) - HisLast (7)
A bit long! But I like the name as a whole.
I am definately going to hyphenate. SOs sister and I share the same first name so her name is already taken...and my last name is foreign and I am too...and it is a very much a part of me because it is different...so i really dont want to loose it! My name will be First (8) + My Last (7)-His Last (7)
I am going to hyphenate too. The lady that helped us with our marriage license said in 21 years of issuing marriage licenses she had never heard of hyphenating a woman's last name, she said "most girls just rush in here and take their husbands name". I really didnt know what to respond with. What can I say we are in a really small country TX town.
My first(4) My last(5)-Hislast(5) ...14 letters i guess not too long.
i honestly think that most hyphenated names sound clunky but yours works beautifully! i am actually kinda jealous, heh. don't feel any hesitation about it, i think, yours really 'flows'.
i've said this in other threads, but i always liked the idea of my husband and me picking a new last name together and us both changing our surnames to it. when i realized how well FI's last name goes with my first and saw how attached he was to his surname, i just knew that i'd take his. no hyphenation, my first+maiden name are clunky enough together as is. :P

So, I've decided to hyphenate after I'm married. As in my brand new sparkling married name will be Elizabeth Moorehead-Murphy. (Don't stalk please, haha.) It was a really long debate internally, but man... is it long. I love it, but is it a name that will even fit on my bank card or other documents? Elizabeth Moorehead was so long already!
What did you end up deciding to do? I felt so funny about it. For so long I was READY to get rid of my old name, and then when it came time to decide, I couldn't do it! It was a part of me.
