I’m only around 7 weeks and I caved last week and went and bought a pair of maternity pants. They are amazing and I am so pleased I decided to do it, although not without quite a bit of shame. The lady in the shop was lovely and helpful (although she assumed I was much more pregnant) and when she asked me how far along I was, her face just dropped and she said “oh” but in a nice way. I helpfully supplied “don’t worry, most of it’s me” which made her and me smile.
Is anyone else finding their regular pants are just too tight even though it’s so early? My jeans are ridiculous and they were very comfortable around the waist before I got pregnant. I’ve never felt so large in my life, and I’m pretty sure it’s all bloat. I’ve just had the wonderful maternity pants taken up and I can’t wait to wear them to work tomorrow. They are wide legged black pants and I think I’ll remain very attached to them 🙂

@Wellington Bride: I wore dresses from 6-8 weeks and eventually broke down and bought mat jeans at 8 weeks. Im at 10 weeks and have to hide my little bump. I was out last night and met another pregnant girl. She was only 13 weeks but looked way further on. It made me feel better. I honestly assumed I wouldn’t show until closer to 15 weeks!!

@phoebephoebo: I presume I won’t show for a while because I’ve always had a bit of a tummy anyway. I bought some great dresses over the weekend and have enjoyed wearing them too. It’s elasticated waistbands all the way now! It’s a funny feeling buying clothes that have room to grow… I used to do exactly the opposite in hope of losing weight!

I had to cave and buy some at 8 weeks. It was all bloat at the time but my regular pants were tight and cutting into me.

I bought elasticated trousers very early for work, and one pair of maternity jeans – the bloat made my normal clothes very uncomfortable!! I then went back into normal clothes for about three weeks between bloat/baby bump.

I was able to hold out till 10 weeks with my pants killing me. I would run home after work just to unbutton my pants and change into sweat pants. Then I caved and got mat jeans. SO IN LOVE with those pants <3

I was definitely bloated and uncomfortable LONG before I had an actual BABY bump. I did the hair tie through the button hole thing on my jeans for a while. Lukcily I wear scrubs to work so I got away with that into my third trimester! Maternity pants are so much more comfy… I wore them until about 6 months post partum too!

@Wellington Bride: I couldn’t hold out for very long. I thik I made it to 8 weeks and then caved, and I was so glad I did. It was kind of sucky walking into the store and seeing all these extremely pregnant women and I’m over here like, “Yeah, I am bloating” lol. It’s ok. Keep yourself comfortable.

I bought maternity pants at 10 weeks and wish I had done so sooner. I was superstitious about buying anything baby or pregnancy related in the first trimester, so I held off as long as I could. But you’re going to need maternity clothes eventually so you might as well shop early and get your money’s worth.

@Wellington Bride: I was wearing maternity clothes at six weeks too.

I was so bloated and uncomfortable that I bought my first maternity shirt at 7 weeks!

I am 10 weeks and I haven’t bought any new clothes yet but I’m on my last pair of jeans and even those are getting pretty tight. The depressing thing is that I’m not showing I’m just gaining weight. Despite continuing to work out, but my diet has taken a complete 180 from eating mostly healthy and lean to eating too many carbs. Thankfully now I can eat regularly again.

I was wearing dresses and skirts so I never noticed anything early (it was warm out and I don’t wear pants to work until it gets cold!). I did notice my work pants got tight at about 12 weeks I think (probably around the time I actually started wearing pants) so I bought those first, and I wore my jeans until about 16-17 weeks. I didn’t get any bloating until around 11-12 weeks though. I was trying to hold off until they went on sale too but I caved and bought the jeans at full price because I knew I couldn’t last much longer.

I’m slightly lucky in the fact that I have currently 4 different sizes in my closet thanks to a weight loss over a year ago. so I am currently in my fat pants and jeans at 7 weeks. I know I’m going to need maternity pants soon though. It is what it is. I’m short with a short torso so I am doomed to pop earlier than most people like my 5’11 cousins ;-p

I tired to hang in there although it was super uncomfortable!! Lasted until 15 weeks and it feels sooo much better to wear clothes and cover everything and fit well.
