So many of you have seen my post about Lord Nigel Duke of Wellington…if you haven’t I invite you to scamper on over to this thread and check out the most awesome cat you’ll ever meet.
Anyway…many of you know I’ve worked for vets, I’ve intered at the zoo, I’ve worked in shelters, foster, etc. I’m a sucker for cute, needy animals in distress. I always find the old and sickly then make them pets. lol
So for a few days I’ve noticed this cat at my friend’s house. Very skinny, kind of skittish, and pretty pitiful looking. One day he decided I was cool enough and decided to come make friends. As I was loading stuff into my car he jumped up on the rough and started bopping me in the head with his paw. When I looked up he nuzzled his head against my face and then plopped into the car.
lol Okay..new friend I guess. As I got in the car and started driving I noticed a lot of discharge from his eyes and nose and very raspy breathing so we took a detour to the vet. Thankfully my vet is awesome and since I’m a former employee I’ve been getting permanent discounts which is awesome because this little guy had a very serious upper respiratory infection, a minor urinary tract infection, infested with fleas, and because of the fleas he had tapeworms.
Let’s all give a big collective *AWW poor kitty* at this point.
So that required a pretty extensive vet stay, lots of meds, x ray, and various other not so fun adventures for the kitty. Thankfully as I mentioned my current vet/former employer is awesome so all we had to pay for was the cost of the meds..all other services were free because he’s a stray.
During the hospital stay we searched high and low for the sweet guy’s owner but had absolutely no luck at all. So as of today we brought home our new, healthy kitty friend and named him Rue because he’s obsessed with carrying around and sleeping on a very old Rue 21 t shirt of mine.
He’s been in this position for about four hours now!

Oh geeze. I’m a huge sucker for animals, too. I’m glad that he trusted you and that you got to keep him. He’s a lucky boy.

AWWWW!! I, too am a sucker for all animals. I have 3 cats and I adopted all of them as strays and fosters. Also, orange kitties are the best! Every orange kitty I have ever known has been the sweetest love bug. One of my kitties is orange and I have never met a more cuddly kitty than him. What a lucky guy Rue is that you have such a good heart.

He is SO STINKIN CUDDLY! I mean Lord Nigel is a marathon cuddler but he has nothing on this guy. He’s perfectly content to being thrown around my neck and just hanging out. We’re estimating he’s about a year old and for a cat so young he’s totally mellow.
Doesn’t care about the other animals. Just pet him and cuddle him, he’s good.
I really wanted to find his owners because I feel like someone is missing him. He’s too sweet, too people oriented, too good around other animals, and he’s neutered so I don’t see how he couldn’t have been someone’s at one point. But my fiance fell in love and I pretty much made it clear that we’ll find a way to fit him into our home if we can’t find his owners.
I’m already taken with him though. He’s spent all day cuddled on my shoulder or in my lap just purring and nuzzling my face. lol so yeah we have no other choice now. He’s claimed us.
It’s funny because in the picture he looks like a typical orange tabby. In person he’s actually a buff/cream color with light orange stripes. Either way he’s a doll!

Awwww! What a lucky little guy! Thank you for rescuing him!

Yeah we don’t do anything but rescue. There are far too many needy dogs and cats out there not to. I’ve seen the worst of the worst when it comes to “breeders” and people who buy from them and knowing what I know, it’s just not a route I would ever take. My conscience wouldn’t allow it.

So we decided to change his name. Rue didn’t fit and never really stuck so he is now officially named Keegan which means little and fiery. lol
