I logged in just to add something to my registry and I was shocked to find that something had been purchased, long before the shower invites even go out. I'm pretty sure my parents bought me the Keurig I've been really wanting. :)

I don't see any harm in stalking your registry. You need to keep an eye on it in case you need to add more things.

I've told myself that I won't stalk because I love surprises! But, realistically I'm a little too far out for people to start buying gifts-so we will see how I act when it actually happens!

@iheartnerds: There are only 2 things on our registry that I REALLY want! 1) The Keurig Platinum and 2) A super duvet cover :)

I thought you meant stalker as in stalking other people's registries!. Haha! Because I do that. When my friends get married, I always purchase from the registry. But when fiance's friends get married, he likes to give cash. But I still log on and see what these couples have registered for anyway. I'm just being nosey I guess. However it does give me ideas for my own registry.

    I'm a superstar registry stalker.

    A couple of times a day :)

It doesn't help that I've always used registries to 'learn' about the brides and grooms I'm working with - so I read into them WAYYYY more than most people :)

i also thought you meant stalking other folk's registry.  i like to stalk ex bf's registries and random people.  once i looked up a registry of a girl that was killed on her wedding day.  i know.  kind of morbid.

you can tell a lot about a person by looking at their registry.  i'm a total kitchen and home goods snob.  i remember saying, "so he's marrying someone with terrible taste.  look at that bed set and those pots and pans.  who would pick out a..."  and the girl in the news, i thought her registry was simple but very good.

i don't know what i would register for.  i'm a little older (31) so i bought many of the items myself.  i have my all clad, le creuset, kitchenaid mixer, keurig...

I've been stalking our registry to make sure that nothing needs to be added or deleted before the shower.  Plus, FI says his family has started purchasing stuff and nothing has shown up on the registry so I hope that they had them scan the registry when they checked out!  Either that or FI has no idea what's really going on :-/

@thewheelsonthebus: Oh jeeze! I hope people don't try to learn about us that way. We don't have much on ours lol

@thewheelsonthebus: You should start a thread "analyzing" people's registries. I think that it would be super interesting. I would read it. :P

Guilty of stalking and analyzing... I am not going to lie!  I was actually super paranoid that we over-registered, etc... I kept analyzing with friends of mine... I guess I am not alone though!

How sad am I  that we are not even registed yet but I go on to Crate & Barrel to add things to my "favorite" list.  We are 13 months away and have not made time to register yet, but I am SO excited to finally get my OWN things. :)

    @Tickles: Ha!

I've been doing it almost as long as I've been working in the wedding world... it started when I had a bride bring the most amazing toasting flutes ever to use - she told me it from her Tiffany Registry... and I just *had* to look at what that registry entailed :)

It just helps me get a 'feel' for the couple. A lot of times I act only as their coordinator and not their planner so I don't get as much hands on time with them... scoping out their registries gives me a general feel for them.

That said... I can only imagine what 'work' wheels would think about 'bride' wheels registries!  :)  heehee

I am stalking mine so much now that the wedding is getting closer and I am about to start having showers! I feel a little bad that I practically won't be surprised by any of the gifts I receive because I'm mentally keeping track of what's been purchased...

    Oh well. :)

Ahhh, I am so guilty of this!  I told myself I wouldn't do it, but I went in to update a few "out of stock" items last week and noticed there were several items purchased.  It is so exciting!  I too worried that we over-registered and had too many high price items, but those were the first items to go, so I guess I don't feel so bad anymore.  Hoping they were a group gift...  I think my shower invites are out at this point, so I should really stop the urge to look.  Trying to cut back...

@GreenMTBride:  I worried about that too!  I even posted here a few times about registry guilt.  The first things that were purchased were things I was *so* worried about having on there because they were higher priced and I already had a very old kitchenaid, but wanted a bigger model in Orange :)  and it got bought!

My new mantra is "guests like choices!  they want to get us something!"

It hasn't slowed me down from scoping out our registries though ;)

@SouthRNComfort I totally stalk other peoples registries!  When we were first putting ours together, I would check the registry of random people that I knew.  I was surprised at how many cool things that I found to add to mine that way.  I'm sure it's mostly nosiness, but it was also helpful.
