So, I went dress shopping very early in my planning at the request of my MOH who could not wait.  I tried on about 20-25 dresses, and narrowed my choice down to 2, but decided to check out a couple more stores "just in case".....I ended up finding a Casablanca gown, well two actually.  But - did you know?  Casablanca can pretty much customize a dress for you!  Now, this is fantastic news, because I really didn't want a straight strapless gown (I am a little big up top), but the first choice at this shop was just that.  So, when they told me they would make that exact dress with the neckline I wanted, I was thrilled and ordered on the spot.  The dress is now sweetheart neckline with straps.  Really, it is a beautiful dress.  But, I HATE IT!  I hate the way it looks on me, and I think the straps I ADDED make it look less elegant or something.  Overall, I am just not happy with it.

Has anyone seen their final dress and wish they didn't get it?  If so, what did you do?  I feel like out of all the things I have spent money on for the wedding, the dress is the one thing I HAVE to be happy with....and now I only have six months to figure something out....should I just deal with it and hope I learn to like it, or find a new one?

Why don't you take your dress to a seamstress and have it fixed?  Have the straps removed.  Get a good seamstress and she can do wonders I'm sure.  I'm sure it can be fixed!

I did - I am so guilty of this! I bought a dress, loved it in the store and then looked back on the photos and HATED it, more then you can imagine. I'm in the process of trying to sell it right now, and have already bought another dress to replace it.

Only my FI and friend know about the first dress - and I'm going to be listing it soon on a site that sells used wedding dress' although mine isn't used at all. Not even altered!

PS - oddly enough mine had a sweetheart neckline too and that's premarily what I hated about it.

I would say see if you can alter the dress first.  But I would advise that you go back and try on a bunch of dresses with different necklines, and see if there's another that you like a LOT better, so you know what you want to have alternated.  At the same time you can keep an open mind to completely different styles, and see if it's worth it to change dresses.
