Is the picture and inspirations picture or your work? They look perfect.
If these are not yours maybe your circles are too circular. Try tapering them very slightly at the bottom. I could be way off base, but cherry blossoms aren't exact circles. Try doing a google search for "cherry blossom picture", and you will see the shape.
i agree, the petals in the inspiration picture are more like an oval, but a bit tapered on one end. i think that would help a lot.
yes cherry blossom petals are a bit wider at their edges and are all slightly* different in shape. What i mean is that each petal isnt exactly the same as another. However, if the picture above is the ones youve done so far, i think they are lovely! Im not sure that they have to be changed to look more like cherry blossoms because you get the overall idea just as they are.
@noritake22: Yeah, that is my inspiration. I wish those were mine. lol.
Okay, I tried the ovals and the overall shape of the flower still looks good but I still can't get the edges to burn evenly. Any ideas how to not melt half the petal before it even gets close to the candle? The flame keeps moving... as candles do. So it is hard to get a rhythm down.
I wonder if you could use an embosser to get the same effect? Just an idea - I'm not sure it would get hot enough to melt the fabric, but I was using mine last night and the paper I was using started smoking! Maybe you need an actual flame to get the effect you're looking for, but it might be worth the try with the embosser - it would give you more control than a flame (maybe?)
I know it's super tedious and you may burn your thumb, but try using a iighter...I had to do it for some of my flowers and it works really well since you have control of the flame. Another tip...make sure there are no drafts :)

These are super inexpensive and a keepsake that you can have forever! :)
Etsy is great!!
@Donnica22: I agree! Esty is where I found these flowers but she can't make as many as I need or the size I want. I am just wanting small, 1 inch flowers and about 200 of them. Urg.
@kfricke89 they do seem rather easy to make and I could possibly help you out (I have a lot of experience on making fabric flowers) let me know :)

I am trying to make organza cherry blossoms but to be honest, I suck. I am usually really good with crafts but I just can't get this one down. I can't get the edges to burn right and if I happen to manage that, when I do put them together they just end up looking like funny little circles made up of 5 smaller circles. Any ideas of what I could be doing wrong or how to help???
This is my inspiration.
