- Wedding: September 2013
A month before the wedding, our caterer dropped out.
New caterer told me last week that she can’t do family style like she said she could afterall, so we’ll be having our meal buffet style.
My hairstylist friendor (who invited 2 plus ones when I only gave her 1…) has a family emergency, and she will not be able to make it. I bought her a hotel on groupon… (I was able to cancel it, thank god) I also already paid for her party of three in our guest count…
Turns out the flowers I thought I had ordered had an error during the order, and are still sitting in the checkout box. It’s too late to order them, now.
Fi’s new step sister (who his mom demanded be there) didn’t bother to request the day off from work, and won’t be there. I already paid for her as part of the guest count…
Fi’s bio sister and only sibling who lives across the country made an appointment to get her wisdom teeth taken out 2 days before the wedding… so she probably won’t make it.
His father won’t make it (for financial and health reasons)
His aunt who demanded we change our no baby wedding to accomodate ehr 1 year old decided the trip would be too hard on the baby and she can’t come.
I didn’t want my often crazy sister to be a bridesmaid. Didn’t ask her. My parents harassed me for months and told me my whole family would be judging me and I’d regret not asking her for the rest of my life. After months of depression, I finally broke down and called to ask her. She said yes. She is broke (one of the reasons I didn’t ask in the first place…) and so I put her dress on my credit card. Non refundable. A day or two before it was delivered, she decided she didn’t want to bea bridesmaid, afterall.
Fi’s Best man and his fiance can no longer make it (found out last week).
Our outdoor wedding in late summer is apparently during a weird heat wave…? Above average temperatures.
We’re handling it. We have work arounds for all of these problems, and so much shit has happened (mostly with family) during the course of planning this wedding that we have developed a pretty thick skin to antics. We’re going to pick up flowers from the farmers market and grocery stores the weekend of the wedding. I’ve been reworking the seating chart as I get new drop outs. Etc. Etc. I’m not really looking forward to the wedding, but I AM very happy to be getting married, and I’m looking forward to spending time with family. 🙂 I’m ok. It’s just kind of crazy.
