Very Pretty! Love everything! sorry but what is trash the dress? sounds interesting lol
aww yay if i was more daring i would love a trash the dress shoot but i would feel to guilty ruining an expensive dress!!post pictures please!!!!! i love the makeup!!!
KT- its where you literally 'trash' or ruin your wedding dress! lots of people get pics in the ocean or river.... or they do things like choclate syrup and candy smashed all over the dress.... etc. its a creative way to put your dress to rest lol
@KTseamans: It is a post-wedding photo shoot where you do things in your dress that you would never do pre-wedding, roll around in dirt, wade in a river, etc etc ... there are some pretty extreme ones like this one. Or more tame (google trash the dress in images and you can see a ton of inspiration).
After I do the shoot I will get the dress cleaned and see how she still looks ... likely I will preserve it!!
@babebabe06: Thanks! My photog has actually not shot a trash the dress before, but she has done one herself, and says that her dress was totally cleanable after it was done - honestly, I was not very careful with it through the reception, and it is fairly dirty anyways - so I don't think there is any harm in it!
this is a dumb question... but... if you spent a bloody fortune on a dress (and yes, I'm including anything over $100 in this) why in the HELLS would you want to destroy or ruin it????
you're basically throwing away $500+.... that sounds... disgusting to me. I can understand wanting to sell it or donate it, or even giving it away, but to destroy a gown that costs that much??? HUH?!????
WHY??? I'm all for art, being an artist, but that goes beyond art to ridiculous and a waste of money.
can someone explain the logic behind this????
@Zinzerena: My dress is already potentially ruined from red wine, road dirt, grass stains etc etc ... so really is a dunk in the river, and some more grass stains the end of the world? Doubtful. Even if it isn't cleanable, it wouldn't have been before the trash the dress ... Plus, I am not ready to let it go yet, and getting another go-round in it, and really having fun doing the pics is appealing to some people.
And my dress was well over $3000 - so if I want to get my mileage out of it, enjoy it one more time, and get to get some artistic, unique pictures out of the deal, I think that is far less wasteful then having it sit in a box in my closet, or sell it for 1/3 - 1/2 of what I paid. To me, not really enjoying your dress, and not getting as much out of it as possible is wasteful!
Ooooh, I want to see how it turns out!! My photographer offered a complimentary engagement, boudoir, or TTD session and I chose TTD. I am a two-dress bride so I am using the first, cheaper one for it. I cannot wait to do it!!
@baldor1: It will still be a while, sometime in September I think - but I will definitely share pics! I think we could do something awesome, we are going to include my 140 lb newfoundland dog, and my hubby is going to be in on some in his non-designer suit!
@Ms Mini: ok, THAT makes sense. thank you!
of course, I'm also the type of person who couldn't justify spending that much on a gown for just one time.
as for what else to do with it? or a good reason to keep it stored away? ummmmm... daughter? that's how gowns become vintage ;) a mother keeps it and starts handing it down, even if the daughter doesn't use it, a granddaughter or great-granddaughter, etc might.
anywhos... thanks for the explanation. it makes sense.
besides, to each their own, right? :)
well for those who may consider trashing their dress.. first consider donating it to Brides against breast cancer.. its much better way to put your dress to rest. I am firmly against trashing the dress, i think its such a waste

Planning my trash the dress shoot!!
I have pulled the trigger so to speak, and contacted the photographer who did our wedding pics about doing a fall trash the dress by/in the river near us!
I am so excited to re-style my dress for this!
Here is it (with me and DH) on the wedding day:
I am thinking of going a bit darker, with a black bolero like this:
And this hair and makeup:
What do you guys think?
