    Hey guys,

I just wanted to come back and tell you about my engagement. Well, just to give you a little background on me and why I didn't have a ring in the first place.... In December, right after Christmas, Howard said to me, "let's go looking at engagement rings"

From that point on, I considered myself engaged. Anyway we left home December 26th, 2010 and started our search for a ring. We looked at quite a few,but finally I decided to just design one for myself since I couldn't find one that I absolutely love. I was working with a small budget and I just couldn't find anything that I liked in that price range. After I had spent a lot of time designing a ring and talking to the dermatologist about the perfect diamond for the setting (within our price range) the ring was still well over the budget! The solitaire itself cost 1,700! This is not including the setting, warranty or taxes! Howard told me not to worry, but It would take him another month or so to be able to purchase this ring. I offered to tweak it a little more to try to come down on the cost and even offered to split the cost and/or pay for the overage, but he wouldn't accept it.

Anyway to fast forward this, On Valentine's Day, I ran out at the last minute to pick out Howard a right-hand ring for his V-Day gift. I was hoping that this would be a nice gesture considering that my e-ring was costing him an arm and an leg! Anyway, I didn't know for sure that I was going to get it my ring on V-Day, but I had some strong clues that I would be receiving it. He took my mother and my grandmother out to dinner and asked them for my hand in marriage (my father wasn't in my life much growing up and plus he lives out of the state) I wouldn't want Howard to ask him anything concerning me anyway....that's another story.

Back to the story: Howard called me to tell me that he had to make some last minute runs and then we were all going out to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. I llloooveee The Cheesecake Factory! Excellent food and a very beautiful restaurant. So when I got back home, I got really anxious and started calling to Jared's Diamond Galleria to see if I could find out from any of the ladies if Howard had picked up the ring and no one would tell me anything! So, I then call my g-mother and my mom and they wouldn't tell me much either, but I could tell that V-Day was definitely going to be the day. I was so excited that I was really acting so not like myself! My sister stopped by to say hi and talk for a while so this was really throwing me late and I really needed to get ready to go out for dinner. She stayed about an hour. Howard had arrived at my house 30 minutes after my sister had got there and when he came into my house the first thing he asked me was my shoe size. MY-SHOE-SIZE! My heart just fell! I was so disappointed because I thought for sure that went out and purchased me a pair of shoes for V-Day. When my sister finally left, I went down to Howard's office (I turned my basement bedroom into an office for Howard 2 years ago for his birthday) Anyway I walked into his office and what did I see? The paperwork from Jared's Jewelry store lying on his desk! I started screaming and he got up from his desk and hugged me and he then pulled a little box for his desk drawer and got down on one knee, popped the box opened AND there she was!!!! I was ALL-TO- PIECES! I looked at that ring with my eyes full of tears and said to him...Are you serious? I don't know if he responded or not and to be honest with you guys, I couldn't tell you what he said to me while on bended knee! lol! It was almost like I went deaf or something. He placed the ring on my finger and then stood up and asked me again if I would be his wife. I said yes, and then as my tears were clearing up and I could see  a little better, I said to him, "OMG! You have the wrong ring! The ring that I designed back in December was not the ring on my finger!

Howard explained to me that I couldn't control everything and that it was ok to let him take control of some things sometimes. He said that he just wanted an idea of the type of ring that I wanted so that he could come back and pick out something that came totally from him but within my taste. He said that I tried to control what type of ring he should pick out and when he was going to propose and that I needed to let him do this in a traditional way. He said that he knew that he had to trick me if he was ever going to be able to propose the way that it should be done. I actually ended up getting a much larger diamond and more elegant setting.... I still can't believe that this ring is on my finger. I would have never asked him for something this expensive for my engagement ring. I love this ring and the man who gave it to me. He changed the ring because he knew that I knew he was going to propose on V-Day. What a true surprise! I didn't know he had it in him!

OH my goodness, my ring is almost identical to yours! I absolutely love mine. It's from a different store and instead of a solitaire the center is 4 diamonds in a groove cut, but yay. Congrats!!!
