I have been the old lady next door for years :-/

In your situation, I would definately complain to your apartment manager. They are underage, so they shouldn’t be drinking or smoking, and there is probably a noise curfew that they are violating.

@Pupperoni: I wouldn’t give a damn. Even though I was “fun” once, I wasn’t disrespectful to others and their belongings.

I’d complain in a hot minute.

@Pupperoni: I think it is spring break in a lot of places at the moment. I didn’t even think of that. Once the real world hits your life luxuries like spring break become obsolete.

Complain! I wouldn’t settle for that crap. I hate underage drinking teenagers that feel like they own the world and can do whatever they want. Tell your apartment manager and keep your fingers crossed that they get kicked out. Just imagine what will be going on over there during new years or on a typical saturday party night.

I would certainly complain about the smoking, at least. I wouldn’t be able to put up with that crap, and I’m pretty sure that the landlord would take your side on it.

As for the noise… I feel you. We live in a complex, and our unit has 4 apartments- 2 up, 2 down…. well, downstairs and across the hall lives a woman and her elderly mother, along with 3 rotten, poorly behaved children….. let’s just say that if white trash were looking for a poster family, they would pick this family.

I can hear them screaming at each other almost every day… did I mention we’re upstairs and across the hallway?

It doesn’t help when they take their yelling into the hallway…

I called the cops on the noisy kids having a party last friday as soon as it hit midnight and the noise curfew kicked in. I feel like the old fun killing neighbour and I’m only 22!

@Roux: Don’t feel bad, I’m only 23 and I’ve been the fun police for about 2 years now 😀

I’m 23 and I’d call the cops and/or apartment manager in a second. Screw them. When I was 17 and wanted to party, we definitely kept quiet to avoid the popo.

Call the landlord. Give them 30 minutes to break it up. If they don’t, call the police. You are not doing anyone any favors by NOT complaining. That just lets them think it is ok to disrespect their neighbors and the home they live in. They have to learn this sometime.

Wow, how rude can people be?! It really pisses me off that young people act like that. No fricken wonder people think I’m too young to be engaged- other people my age are morons.

I’ve gone to my visit one of my friends (who has an apartment at another school) twice this year. Both times we’ve called the apartment manager because the ENTIRE HALLWAY smelled like pot from the people who live next door to her. Cooking dinner isn’t exactly appetizing when there’s the overwhelming odor of weed seeping under the door and into the kitchen.

No one should have to put up with that. I’d call. You might not be “fun,” but you deserve to be respected.
