It’s been weeks since I have bought my dress and I still feel regret. My mom and sister flew across the country to go dress shopping with me. I also brought my Mother inlaw and my sister inlaw too. I don’t “Love” my dress. I didn’t even feel that confident in it. You can see the dress here.
I really wanted the Essence of Austrial D1431. I had actually emailed the shop askiing if they would have that dress in stock when I came on to try on gowns and they had said yes. When I got to the store they said they didn’t have it in stock. I was pretty disappointed but moved forward.
I ended up purchasing the Hera, but I felt pressured into it. I don’t have a car and wasn’t sure when the next time I could go dress shopping was. I don’t like being a burden to people. I feel like I really made a bad choice. I also feel like the Hera is less flattering then the EA dress. I thought I was supposed to love my wedding dress and feel beautiful in it and I just don’t really feel that with the Hera.
Do you think I am being irriational? I know I look good in the Hera, It’s just not what I was seeing myself walk down the isle in and I keep looking at that EA gown and everytime I see it, it takes my breath away.
Thanks for letting me talk this out! 🙂

@ClassicLady: I’m sorry you are going through this. I can totally relate. *Hugs* I have to be honest though … your actual dress I prefer (silhouette, style), and I think looks more expensive than the other. I do not mean to confuse you any more than you already are, but I think the dress you bought is stunning. However, you say you do not feel confident in it, and that is a big issue.
Can you cancel your purchase until you have it figured out (and maybe, got to try on your dream dress) ?

Honestly I think the dresses look very similar and you look *lovely* in the one you bought.
Maybe try your new dress on with a pretty sash and see how you feel about it? It might help you feel like your waist is more defined (even though it’s already gorgeous) and make it ‘feel’ a little more like the other dress.

@ClassicLady: They’re really similar. What exactly about the dress you got do you not like?

Thank you for the hugs! After speaking with my sister, I think it’s just more of a self esteem issue more than anything. I’ve always had tough perception of my body and i’ts been something I have been working very hard to improve this past year. Maybe this is just another hurdle!
I appreciate you saying my dress looks more expensive, becusae I acutally thought it looked cheaper!
Oh a sash! Do you think a simple sash would look okay with it even with all the beading on the bodice? I love the sash look but I was worried with all the other stuff going on with the dress.
I think the EA one has more of a dropped wasit and there isn’t as much “scrunching” like the Hera. I also liked the detail on the train with the EA one where the Hera’s bottom is very plain. The sash is also pretty too and seems like I could maybe do it with the Hera.

@ClassicLady: What is your dress ID number ? I have to google it, because from your pictures I cannot see the train and details you’re talking about. 🙂

I think Hera looks WAY more expensive/nice, and I bet it’s WAY more flattering in person!

Hehe, okay! Thank you for that.
Oh P.S I bought it as a sample gown so I wouldn’t be able to return it. But I think between talking to you ladies and my sister I am feeling a lot better about the choice. 🙂

@ClassicLady: Thanks for the link !
The only 2 differences I notice is your dress has a shorter bodice, and more embellishments than the EA . The rest of it is similar for both dresses. I also think the model on the website doesn’t do justice to the dress, you look 10 times better in that dress and your pictures show off the details way better than the website pics ! That’s also why I would not do a sash. The details on your dress are gorgeous and they should get all the attention they deserve !
I know it doesn’t resolve the issue, but I can’t find anything I don’t like about your dress !

@ClassicLady: I felt the SAME way! I was ever MORE disappointed when my dress came in five months later. I was able to order a new one today… The one I envisioned all of this time, and am on cloud nine. I just posted it, because I am so elated. If it’s that bad of a feeling to you, talk to the store you ordered from and see what your options are. Only speak to a manager (or a district manager, if possible)… They will be more apt to help you. Your dress is gorgeous… Mine was, too… So, I know what it feels like to have one that’s “good enough”, but not “the one”.

@ClassicLady: I think you look great in it – however, it doesnt sound like you like it at all really. You derserve to feel amazing in your dress.

@ClassicLady: I think the dress you bought is stunning. I’m not a fan of the other one. It’s similar, but not the wow factor.

@ClassicLady: I think that scrunching thing is just a part of having that style of dress. Almost every one I’ve seen with that shape had scrunching in the tummy area. You can even see it in the pictures of the EA dress from that other thread.
I remember a thread from about a year ago where this bee was having dress regret for the same reason. They told her at the fittings that she probably wouldnt completely get rid of the scrunching.
And I’ve seen an episode of SYTTD where a girl wanted that shape but also had a problem with the scrunching and they told her that if she wanted that shape then she had to deal with it.
So unfortunately, if thats the style you want, you’ll probably just have to come to terms with the scrunch. =/

For what it’s worth, I actually love the Hera much, much more…as another bee said, it absolutely has the wow factor. To me the other dress is beautiful, but pretty standard. The Hera definitely looks more luxe/expensive to me.
