So, we have been engaged two weeks to the day and we are getting married on June 26, 2010.  I feel soooo behind (which I obviously am) and I need a little guidance.  We are getting married so soon because the place that we knew was just made for us to get married at is booked well into next year and we decided that we didin't want to wait more than a year to get married.  So, we took the only Saturday available this year because someone cancelled.  I have done the following:

    1. Ordered my dress.

    2. Hired a photographer.

    3. Found my florist and bakery.

    4. Found my invitations (ordering them tonight and paying the wonderful rush fee).

    5. Found a DJ.

    6. Ordered the bridesmaid dresses.

    7. Scheduled a tasting with a caterer.

Does any one have some guidance for me and if there is anything pressing that I have to get done now?  Every time I look at a checklist, I panic.  It is happening so fast that I never know what to work on next.  Thanks so much for your help!

Congrats and welcome! It sounds like you have a lot of your bases covered! I'm personally not a fan of The Knot's boards, but I joined because they have a really awesome check list for each month. You can add/remove stuff, too depending on what you are doing. It's workth checking out!

congratz! I think you got the main stuff out of the way. Do you have an officiant?

You're about 2-3 months out now. Prioritize items that require you to book vendors. In general, I would suggest you to start thinking about

    1. book your hair/makeup artist

    2. Book ceremony musician (if necessary).

    3. finalize your dress fitting and shop for accessories

    4. Finalize your catering (which u'r already doing)

    5. think about/book your rehearsal/pre-wedding dinner.

    6. Do you have a guest list & their mailing addresses? You'll need to mail your invitation once you receive it

    7. Book your wedding night accomodation (if necessary).

    8. groom's tux or suit?

    9. Create a day (or weekend) of wedding timeline

    10. create a wedding gift registry (if necessary).

Honestly? We've got the same date, and you're way ahead of us. :) Someone told me early on that wedding planning takes as much time as you have---so true! Venue, caterer, dress, and photographer were the biggies as far as booking in advance, so if you're covered on all those fronts you're doing fine.

pren79's list seems pretty good as far as next steps---I'd just add rings (seems like places need six weeks on average, so there's still some time). If you need a hotel block for out-of-town guests, you'll want to do that before the invites go out, too.

I think you're in good shape, though!

I agree with oakster your rings take about 6 wks for them to come in and if you want to get them engraved as well, then that will take almost an extra 2 wks. Overall it sounds like you're pretty on target for everything. And pren79's list is defintely the next steps to take and think about. Good luck!!!

I like pren79's list.  Maybe add "reserve a block of hotel rooms for guests".

I was in your shoes last year and actually wish I had gone ahead and gotten married last summer - our 18 month long engagement is totally wearing on me and I wish we were married already! I agree with the comment that it'll take as much time as you have...we ended up procrastinating so much that we're not all that further along than you are (and WOW - in just 2 weeks of being engaged, you've accomplished a TON!)

I think the list of next steps looks good. Good luck and keep us updated!

Great job getting so much done so quickly!

The only other big thing I didn't see on your list was to find a wedding officiant (which my FI and I have not done yet for our June 19 wedding, so don't stress too much!)

Thanks everyone for your input and comments! I feel much better.  i am lucky that I don't have to work so I am able to plan my wedding all day every day!  I have felt so behind every one and it makes me feel so much better to know that I am not.  We will be married in less than 3 months!!!!
