DH’s birthday is on Thursday, and I have no clue what to get him. I suck at picking out presents. I feel really bad for failing miserably at his Valentine’s Day and Christmas presents recently, too.
Anyone else suck at it like I do?

Is he into sports? maybe you could buy him tickets to a game.

@Katnisseverdeen: My parents do that for him for everything, so I wanted to do something a bit more original. Thanks for the idea, though!

I used to have that problem too, I would get him a gift… one that I HOPED he would like because of hey he likes this kind of thing… and I would get a reaction like “oh, cool thanks” and he would never use it and I could tell he wasn’t too excited about it. I’ve gotten better though. Like our past anniversary- he LOVES to play the online video games on the computer, so I wanted to get hima NICE gaming keyboard and mouse. I got his friends help to find the one with the best whistles and bells and OMG he LOVED his gift! Last Christmas I did a similar thing and it worked again. Does your husband have any hobbies that you could get him something awesome to go with it? Good luck!

O yes am I in your boat. I am TERRIBLE at buying Fiance presents…and we’re supposed to know each other better than anyone in the world…HOW can I not know what to get him? It’s so painful. And I hate hate hate it when I get him something and he’s so sweet about it, but I can tell it’s not his thing.

Im the same and its annoying when he manages to get it so right for me!!!
What about something like a weekend away or some type of adreniline thing? I know in Aust we have a website called Red Balloon that is all experienced based, I have gotten a few presents from there for people that are hard to buy for!

@MattandKristin: Unfortunately, most of his hobbies are expensive, and I’d end up spending $200 or more to get him something like that. We’re broke right now, and that’s just too much. 🙁
@kate02121: I KNOW! DH always gets me the BEST gifts, so I feel awful that I’m so bad at it.
@lisha_1988: Not a bad idea. If I could find something affordable, that would be good…

For FI’s birthday I took us to a picnic and did a picnic basket filled with stuff i cooked, or at least partially prepared. I listed all his favourite foods – pizza, salmon, chicken salad, chocolate coated strawberries and added a cheap bottle of wine to it, with some plastic wine glasses. It took time to prepare, but I got one of my girls to sleepover and help me the night before, it turned out to be cheaper than buying a gift he would really like and he felt sooooo special.
So that’s one idea. Or you can cook for him (or order in his favourite fast food) and pretend to be a waitress (dress up like one) and be at his command all night 😉
Or you could do a custom made cd/dvd of pictures of you, or you two, maybe racy pics, maybe just a timeline of your rship, maybe a dvd interview of a friend of your asking you questions about him and recording your sweet answers…
Hope this helps 🙂

It’s always hard to buy a gift for my man too >_> He’s the type that if he wants something he’ll go buy it himself. LMAO and then he won’t drop hints. I think it’ll get easier when we live together.
I like @glitter86:‘s ideas!!!
