Me and DH have been using a 20-year old hand me down washer and dryer set since we bought our house just over a year ago. They work okay, except for that they like to chew holes in light jersey clothes, can barely fit a sheet set in to wash, and the dryer only has a super-extra high heat setting that works.

We went to Sears friday night, because we are cool like that ... and they were having a huge appliance sale ... and we bought a new washer and dryer set, we got $1000 dollars off of the regular price (and these are a brand new release) on an LG made Kenmore Elite steam washer and dryer set. They are huge, 4.5 cubic foot washer and 7.4 cubic foot dryer!

We are going to hopefully finish our laundry room before they are delivered (October 7th) and make it a lot more attractive! I will post before and after laundry room make-overs ... but here is a peek at the new laundry set!

Nice! The first thing we are planning to buy after the wedding is a new washer and dryer! We had a ooooold washer and dryer that worked okay until I accidently overloaded the washer (oops) and it started leaking a lot! When we moved into our new house I insisted that I wouldn't have that old leaking ratty washing machine in my beautiful new house, so we had to go to rent a center to rent one as it wasn't in our budget to spring for a new expensive set, and I didn't want a cheap set that wouldn't last long.

It's funny how exciting something like a brand new washer and dryer can be! Congrats!

Ooh we have the Samsung W/D similar to the LG one you posted and love them! You can fit so much in that thing. The other day I washed a full sheet set, comforter, and about 8-10 towels at once and everything came out clean. It is such a time saver to be able to shove so much in at once.

@jamiemichelle: It did feel like such a sin to put the almost 20 year old set we got handed down in our new house, but with the laundry room unfinished it isn't such a big deal ... with the new washer and dryer I have a ton of ideas to finish the laundry room off ...

This is essentially our "before" (picture a 20 year old set in place) LOL

So we have to do some drywalling/mudding/taping, we are going to paint the floor a greige colour, and paint the walls, put in a countertop over the washer/dryer, some shelving and a hanging rod overtop, and put an accordian style door over the utility area.

I'm jealous.  Our washer has broken twice (burned up a belt)  since we moved here (2 months).  So fun to have a project too!

@Mrs. DG: It is fun to have a project! I was having a good time at home depot today grabbing colour swatches for the floor and wall colours. I have to go to sears this week and check them out against the colour of the washer/dryer because I am a nerd like that (LOL)

Aaaah, I am so jealous! I want a new washer and dryer but will have to wait until after the wedding. My fiance' wants to switch out our queen bed for a king too so I can think that will take precedence too.

I cannot wait to move back into doing home projects.

@baldor1: We have been waiting a long tome for the new washer/dryer ... but since they were on sale for such a good price, and the wedding is a couple months behind us it was a good time. We also want to go up to a king sized bed, but decided that the washer/dryer first, and a new dining room set second are priorities for us over the new bed.

Sometime it does suck to need to prioritize (LOL) but such is being an adult!

I'm jealous, we've been using a brutal pair since we moved in (came with the house), and they gobble up our electric bill like mad, plus it takes forevvvvvver to actually get anything dry. I can't wait until we buy a new WD set, but we're the types who usually wait until something breaks to replace it.

@missmouse29: We really wanted to replace the W/D before they break, because we can still get a couple hundred bucks for selling a working used set where we are from. We also get a $175 rebate from our municipality for upgrading to an energystar washer! I am lookingforward to seeing what impact this makes on our electricity water bill as well!
