Start researching venues in your area, and try to get a feel for the pricing. Set your budget early and discuss what your priorities are with your fiance. :o) That's my advice! Welcome and CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Just start browsing around here! Tons of ideas and information. Read some wedding blogs.
I think the first thing would be to decide on a feeling you want and your budget.
Formal, nontraditional, pink, vintage, black and white..... the options are endless!!!!
Congratulations on the engagement, this is such an exciting time of your life and good luck planning :)
find a good wedding planner guide to go by..keep it posted somewhere you'll see !
make lists!
make more lists! : )
delegate! delegate! pick people that you can depend on!
enjoy it, it will get stressful but if you keep it in perspective, you'll enjoy it more!
and most importantly, remember why you're getting married..you love each other and only the 2 of you matter for that special day
I feel you! I am currently in grad school and from engagement to wedding will have had exactly 7 months to plan.
Of course it is midterms this week so the stress is to the max!
My advice is to not let yourself start to look at wedding stuff until you are done with studying for the night because flowers, cake, and dresses are A LOT more enjoyable than studying :)
I did say it was midterms week and I am still on WeddingBee.....I can give advice, but I don't have to take it!
Congrats! I signed up at the knot for their check list and guest list manager. Some of the stuff is unneccesary but it's a really big help when you're just getting started!
I think that the best way to plan is to get organized.
The way I did it was I budgeted everything out first - literally everything. Get quotes from 2-3 vendors (you can do most of this through email). This will give you a better idea about what things cost (there is A LOT of sticker shock associated with planning a wedding).
Once you have everything budgeted out sit down with your FI and have both of you choose 3 things that are most important to you. These are the things that you will not budge on and even may splurge on. Everything else you can try and save costs (to get ideas for saving costs you have come to the right place - YAY weddingbee).
After everything is planned you can start booking things starting with the venue and the photographer.
Good Luck and Have Fun!!!!!!!!
