I’ve been trying to make a better effort to eat healthier, especially since I’m pretty active it didn’t make sense that I was eating crap then heading to the gym. Anyways, today I bought a blender for smoothies!
I bought the ninja food prep pro ($50 at target) and it blends ice & frozen fruit beautifully!
I made pomegranate, spinach, blueberries, strawberry, banana & yogurt smoothie – sooo good! I also made up little freezer packets for this week so I’ll have to do is plop it in the blender.
so, please share your smoothie recipes! I want to try one with my protein mix too, so any recipes with protein mixes are welcome!
yay for healthy, yummy food!

I always just toss things in and never pay attention.
Mangoes and strawberries are some of my favourite fruits. I like cherry, coconut, and vanilla yogurt.
For extras, I’ll add in honey (especially ones flavoured with fruit), juice, lime juice, and the Rose’s lime cordial.
Rum or vodka is tasty and things out a thicker drink nicely.

Orange juice, mango pieces, and a frozen banana. No ice, no yogurt. Just those three things.

Simple recipe from a former barista:
1) Juice and/or fruit puree
2) Milk (non- or low-fat)
4) Protein powder
The juice:milk:ice ratio is approximately 3:1:3, plus a whole large banana. So for a 16 oz smoothie, use about 6 oz juice, 2 oz milk, 6 oz ice, and a banana.

Apple, kale, watermelon, plum, and carrot is really yummy as juice (just throw them all in and blend, it’s just slightly thicker than juice but so nutritious!)
I also love any frozen berries, a little bit of juice (usually cranberry) and blend into a very healthy sorbet.

I really like vanilla yoghurt mixed with juicy pears, some lemon juice and som fresh ginger (use garlic press for it).

I regularly make my green smoothies with ice, spinach, half of a banana, and lots of whatever berries I have on hand. I never put yogurt or milk in my smoothies, the banana adds enough creaminess. I love love love this combo. Its healthy, but tastes so good!

I love smoothies! I could eat them as every meal and be happy. One of my favs:
Sliken Tofu – almond Flavoured
Frozen Blueberries – 1 c
Spinach – 2 c
Almond Milk – 3/4 c
It’s super tasty though it may leave your teeth a little blue. 🙂

Here’s my personal favorite… I could drink it every day:
-Low fat milk (about 6oz)
-1 scoop unflavored whey protein
-2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
-2 tbsp natural creamy peanut butter
-1 medium/large frozen banana
It tastes like a peanut butter cup… so yummy!

I get frozen fruit at the grocery store- mixed berries usually. I toss in a handful of the frozen fruit, a banana, some greek yogurt, and a splash of OJ. Sometimes I pitch in any fruit that’s extra ripe (aka going bad soon) or even some cucumber or other veggies in the fridge that I either need to eat or toss. I hate wasting food, so I toss in all kinds of stuff!

1 Tbsp ground flaxseed

We are so lazy with this. We make smoothies ahead of time for the workweek breakfasts, and we honestly just go to costco, buy produce, and blend away on Sundays. Here’s our approximate recipe right now:
1/4 ground oatmeal
1 T ground flax seed
2 T Coconut oil
1 C Coconut or Almond milk
Water as needed
2 C spinach leaves
1 banana, sliced
1 Granny Smith Apple, diced
1 C blueberries
I guess you could add honey if you like… this is not sweet at all, but we really drink it to keep us full and energized all morning.

I love my homemade smoothies! I wish I had a better one though – my Magic Bullet is kinda weak. Anyway, I keep making these three although I’m always on the lookout for more good ideas – great thread, by the way!
apple, spinach, ginger, flaxseed, stevia, milk and/or greek yogurt
frozen mango, frozen raspberries, flaxseed, stevia, milk and/or greek yogurt
frozen strawberries, milk, stevia (strawberry milk! :D)

Ohhh here’s my favorite (from pinterest):
SUPER 7 (superfoods) Jolly Green Smoothie
- 2 cups Almond Milk
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 1 banana
- 1 orange
- 1/2 cup fresh raspberries (sometimes I substitue blueberries or blackberries)
- 5 strawberries
- 3 cups fresh spinach
- 2 cups ice cubs
I normally halve this recipe and it makes like a big glass and then some.
