Thanks for restarting! I loved that thread and seeing the updates!

Here’s my light blue eBay moissanite I got for around $7 and a sterling silver setting from JammingGems that was $10ish. The pearl band is from GoldenLeafBijoux on Etsy and was around $10 and the eternity is from Berricle. All together this stack was around $40 🙂

Yay! Thanks for re-starting. I’ll post what I got again and what I’ve done with them so far 🙂

Green moissy: 1.42ct 7.35mm $12.50

moissanite-3

Set into a jamming jems plain silver solitaire $12 setting (I’m hoping to reset this stone into something else, but haven’t found what I want yet….)

Off-white moissy: 1.62ct 7.70mm $24.50

white-moissy-1

This one will be set into this rose gold setting with diamond pave sides that I also got on eBay for $160 (pic shows the stone in the prongs but not set)

Grey moissy: 1.28ct 7.20mm (not set yet; $19.50)

I’m waiting on a yellow gold setting that I got from eBay as well that cost $154, so for now this is the stock photo on it and I’ll post once I get the setting:

Claw prongs and bands will sit flush with it.  I’m ultimately going to put a bubble and breathe with it too!

Are mossianties really this cheap or are these just great deals you guys found??? I’ve got a .5 diamond now in a setting that can be upgraded to a .75, and I was thinking of getting a moissy instead of a diamond because of the price difference, but especially if they are this cheap!! This are so beautiful!

iceetemp :  Most of these are just really good deals. I think most people spend significantly more on their moissanite ering. For example, mine was $800/900 & bands were $300 each

Many of us jumped on the “cheap India Moissy” wagon when it was starting up.  Many of the sellers do charge more now, but you can still try for their “make an offer” listings, and some are still getting nice stones for less.  Many times the off white ones are quite yellow.  Some are cut poorly too, it’s a bit of a gamble.  I do try to get the seller to specifically say in messages what color on the diamond color chart the stone is.  If I get one that is significantly off of that, I have the right to send it back.

I have had one dud out of 5 stones, but many of the ladies did not get that lucky.

iceetemp :  These are eBay moissanites, so usually from India with lower quality control. Sometimes they are poorly cut, so it’s a gamble getting one, but sometimes they are amazing! The ones on this forum in engagement rings are typically the original Charles & Colvard brand (classic, Forever Brilliant and Forever One) and run ~$600/ct. Now that the patent has expired on moissanite, it’s freed up the market a bit, allowing new brands/cuts like Neo moissanite, Harro Gem, JBY and JuliaB to come on the scene.
