Let me preface by saying that I live in Utah and the number of wedding gowns that I can try on that are NOT temple ready/modest/sleeved AND in my budget are very slim. I have bought 3 dresses online now, and a 4th was bought in person.
Ladies, I bought dress #4. Thankfully all four dresses have only cost me well under $715 total, and they all are new with tags so resale is possible (already sold one).
The one I bought in person I thought was the last one. Then our venue/wedding changed so much from a full wedding in Jackson Hole, to now an elopement in the mountains. I do like my current dress (a Casablanca). I got it because it was a great deal at a sample sale and I did not need one alteration. Plus it looked good on me. Might not be the most maneuverable with all its delicate lace though.
Then I wandered over to Davidsbridal.com to look at their $200 and under gowns. I found one that was gorgeous and every rating was 5 stars.
Then I went and saw this simple yet elegant dress. It was $99 (originally $449). It’s much more lightweight.
(ETA: these photos are not of me but another bride online who got the same dress, however we have a similar sized frame)
So I took another gamble and ordered this dress. I already knew my size in DB so I’m going to hope that this particular dress will fit like the others.
I’ll repost with photos if it turns out good! If not I’ll be selling it shortly! LOL

#1, 2, 4 were all online purchases, but #3 was bought in person. The dress in this post is dress #4. I don’t have this dress in my possession yet, but if it fits anywhere like it does on this bride – I will be sold 100% on this dress! I hope; we have similar builds.

I like the lace one or this DB one…good choice, either way

@sienna76: That was exactly my situation… bought four dresses, 1, 2 & 4 were online and #3 was in person. The first one just didn’t work for my body type and because of the style would have needed a ton of expensive alterations to fit. The second one I am quite disappointed with because I bought it from Church Street Bridal and I don’t feel they were forthcoming about the damage to the dress, and that one is being repaired at a seamstress right now. The third one I bought for $199 at David’s Bridal and needs no alteration, so I knew no matter what I had a dress I could wear- and I do like it but it is not my dream dress at all. I took one more chance and ordered my dream dress on ebay and it’s perfect! It’s the style I always wanted and it is so “me”- Pronovias Nerveo. The pictures don’t do it justice, they never do! I spent about $1500 but the dresses retailed originally for almost $10,000 total so I should be able to get at least half of what I spent back. I spent more than I planned but it is such a relief to have my dream dress finally! I was getting bummed watching everyone be so excited about their dresses but I was just okay with mine.
The dress I ended up with- minus the bolero (I may still wear my David’s Bridal ballgown for the ceremony, why not?)

@rosesarefree: Wow that is the exact situation! What a coincidence!
Do you have one of your DB ballgown? The Pronovias Nerveo is gorgeous dress!
I think I get a serotonin high when I find good deals.

That dress looks great on you, and very appropriate for an elopement.

@sienna76: This is the ballgown… I like it, and I’ll probably wear it for the ceremony because when else would I get a chance to wear a big poofy princess dress? But it isn’t 100% me and I love to dance and I don’t think the ballgown will be good for that.

It’s easily the best one on you of the 3! Great find!

I love the 3rd dress for you! The last one is very simple but still you look much more beautiful in the 3rd one.

That is a gorgeous ball gown rosesarefree!
I will be ecstatic if the $99 dress looks good on me!
