I bought hair at Sally’s along with a matching color thread and special needle. I didn’t follow any specific instructions  or anything… I just went to town sewing on clips two or three in a section of hair. Looked kinda messy, but you never notice it when its on anyways, so my sloppy sewing job doesn’t matter much πŸ™‚

um pretty sure you need a professional for this.  not something i would attempt on my own… especially if you’ve never done it before.  that could turn out pretty horrific!

are you sewing the hair to clips or to your head?

Question…

Why didn’t you buy the extensions that already had the clips sewn on?

@stephanie63087:whew. I got a little worried there. Obviously I need some sleep.

@stephanie63087: At the top of the clips, are there little holes? That is where you’re supposed to loop the needle through to connect to the hair weft (the seam line on top of the extensions). I did 5-6 loops per hole and the clips stay on nice and tight.

@stephanie63087: Oh okay, I misunderstood the question. What I did was:

1 large section (about 6-7 inches) for the top/crown/back

1 medium section (about 4 inches) for the nape

2 small sections (1 1/2 inch each) for the temples

It seems to cover my head pretty well πŸ™‚

Now, my wefts were doubled up. As in I took a 14 inch piece of hair and folded it in half to make the large section, sewed it up together and then added the clips. So each clip-on piece had a LOT of hair.

I think @Gingersnap: did a fab job at explaining! Make sure that you double the hair over before sewing. Also, when determining sizes, I had my friend measure my head with a tape measure in all the places that gingersnap described- that way it was exact.

I gotta do this too someday. What do you call the needle and thread? I have clips and hair but not the needle and thread.
