This week I bought my wedding dress! I had done quite a bit of wedding dress shopping over the years for friends as a bridesmaid or MOH, though when it came along to being my turn I realized one thing…. I had very little idea of what I wanted! I knew it should be sexy (yes, I know that isn’t a word that is often tossed around for brides) and that I didn’t want it to be too puffy, frilly, or too shiny. I’m a fairly curvy size 8 (in regular clothes, not wedding dresses!) and I started out looking for dresses with ruching around the waist, with straps, a V neck and a fit to flare silouette. I was nearly ready to buy Pronovias’s “Diamante” dress, and I was considering splurging and getting Priscilla of Boston 4301 (the V-neck trumpet dress will the big flower on the waist).
However something kept nagging at me, and then finally a friend put a finger on it, from the hips up they both looked like dresses I would wear on any occasion. Being so close to what I would wear normally did not leave me with a “WOW” factor, so I started looking at strapless dresses. The first one I liked was Allure 8526 SS, but before I bought it I decided to go to one last store, the local Couture Wedding gown shop (or should I say Atelier)!
I had read that they would be having a sample sale next week so I thought I would get in early and check out what they have and then see if I could get a dress at the sample sale. Oh how wrong an idea this was! First, my size 8 figure with a 34D top does not fit into any of the sample dresses in a couture shop as they keep their sample sizes much smaller than other places. Second, the dress I feel in love with wouldn’t have even been in the sample sale!
The dress I feel in love with (and bought) is Ines Di Santo’s Susanna dress without the detachable train. It was more than I had been planning on spending for a wedding dress, however once I tried it on there was no going back! Normally I am a very frugal shopper, and the closest thing I have ever bought to couture is the Saks outlet!
In any case, the purpose of my post! There are very few photos of the dress anywhere online, and I was wondering if any of you bees have photos this Ines Di Santo dress you could share? I ordered it in regular Ivory, and I’ve only seen pictures of it in Antique Ivory which is really more of a champagne. Also, I plan on having it altered to have a sweetheart neckline, and I wonder if anyone else has done the same? I’ll share mine, however the dress is 2 sizes too small so I am being squeezed out in all the wrong places!
Also, for any other Ines Di Santo brides, I simple love her designs and would love to see more of her dresses on all of you bees!
