Hi everyone … I’m new here but just wanted some opinions or support. I have been looking online and in magazines at dresses for a few weeks and have found very few dresses that I would like for myself. I JUST started trying on dresses yesterday and today. After about 10 dresses total, I found my dress! It was everything I was hoping for … very simple, but not “too” simple … no beading … and organza (which I truly LOVE for a summer wedding!). The only thing that I hadn’t planned on, is that it has a ball gown silhouette, which I didn’t think I wanted. I’m only 5’2″ and thought it would make me look too short. Surprisingly, I really loved it on!
Anyway, now that I’m home I’m just hoping I made the right decision, I guess. I keep thinking maybe I was right originally and I should’ve stuck with an a-line?? Maybe I should’ve kept looking?? I really did feel happy (and beautiful) in the store. Is the second day of dress shopping too soon to decide on a dress?! Just hoping I did the right thing!

Don’t worry about it! I bought my dress a few months ago, and I’m getting married after you!! And it was one of the first dresses I tried on! If you’re happy with it, that’s all that matters.

I bought my dress on the first day of shopping. I’m sure it will be fantastic. Do you have pictures?

I wouldn’t worry about it. If you loved it (which it sounds you did) and you felt beautiful in it that’s all that matters.
I found a dress I loved on my first day of shopping and ordered it but the next day I woke up feeling iffy about it so I called and postponed my order. I think part of the problem was that I was sad that I was done shopping.

Lucky you for having found the one! I’m an encore bride…My first time, I just walked into an off-the-rack store and saw MY dress as soon as I walked in, didn’t even need to look at others. It was love at first sight, and I still think of that dress fondly. This time around, ten years later, I’ve tried on maybe a hundred dresses and settled for one that I like but not love. Sometimes it just works out and you know right away. I say enjoy and don’t question it! If you have some pics why don’t you post them and the Bees can reassure you 🙂

I bought the 11th dress I tried on the first day of shopping and I am 5’3″ and ended up with a ball gown instead of an a-line!
I am sure the dress is perfect!
Just stop looking at look at pics of you in your dress to remind yourself why you love it!

Congratulations on finding your gown!!!
I am getting married after you and I have already purchased mine. I only went to one salon and tried on 5 gowns. I am 5′ 2″ also and did not want a ballgown for the same reasons as you. Needless to say, the 5th gown was a ballgown and it was/is mine. I am glad that I found it and got a geat deal on it, so I can concentrate on other aspects of the wedding.

I think if you loved the dress and felt great in it–then it’s your dress. A lot of people find their dress right away and other gals have to look for a really long time. I’m sure your dress is great!!

Thanks so much for all the positive feedback! I’m starting to feel better already! Also, forgot to mention before … we’re trying to do everything on a fairly modest budget, so cost was a factor, too. I found the dress at DB so it was very reasonable, too! Here are a few pics for anyone asking …

Beachbride- first of all yay date twins!!! Where are you getting married? I bought my dress on the first day of shopping it was the 6th dress I tried on. Saw it in the bag and hated it…never thought I would want and off white strapless A line gown!!! But it was perfect for me and once it was on I fell in love! Just stop looking at other dresses! If it feels right then who cares how many dresses you tried on before hand?? I consider myself lucky to not have tried on 50 dresses….a friend of mine that got married tried on about that many before she found her dress!!! AND that is one part of your wedding that is solidified so it should be a wonderful feeling! Can we see pictures!?

Oh my gosh. How lovely! It’s not really what I would call a ball gown and it has lovely detail; and I wouldn’t descsribe it as ‘simple’, it’s great!!. There is attention to detail, it flows perfectly, it hangs devinely, it rooshes perfectly, You look like an angel in it. It’s perfect. It’s not stiff and poofy. This is soft and flowy. I think it’s perfect. It doesn’t look like a bargain! Very very soft gown! Take it now to your seamstress who will be doing alterations. They can get very costly so you need to factor that into your budget. But from what I see in the photo, the dress is a perfect fit and doesn’t need any alterations at all!
Don’t second guess yourself. This is YOUR dress. It’s perfect on you. Can you imagine how heavenly it will look with a soft ocean breeze fluttering your dress panels? It will float, as you will down the aisle. PERFECT.
Don’t show your gazillion friends. Keep it a secret. I know you are tempted to show and tell; but the day of your wedding the only cloud that day will be the billows of your gown as you float down the aisle! You found the dress! Congrat’s.
Focus now on finding the right shoes and veil. The veil in photo is perfect, I think.

Oh wow….sooo pretty! I think you made a great choice, and if you are in love with it, that is what matters, not the amount of times you go shopping!
