- Wedding: December 2014
DISCLAIMER: If you are planning on flaming me, just please do NOT comment. Thank you!
I am not engaged yet, but SO has been planning my ring for quite some time now. We plan to marry before I turn 25 (I turn 25 in August) and he thinks it only takes 1-2 months to plan a wedding. I told him: yes, that CAN happen if you have an endless amount of money and can just pay full price without shopping around, but I need lots of time to find deals!
Anywho, I haven’t been ‘wedding shopping,’ but when I happen to find good ‘wedding related’ deals, I buy them. My thought process is: If I don’t get them on sale/clearance/discount now, when its time to actually buy them, they might be gone or back to full price! And I already know that our budget will be EXTREMELY small. Like, $1,000… $2,000 at the absolute max. For 90 people.
So far, I was able to find:
-Brand new, unopened boxes of invitations and response cards at goodwill for $10, originally $100 with the tags still on them. And I can print on them for absolutely free, not even having to pay for ink!
-4 bridesmaids dresses for $25 each. Brand new, discontinued dresses from DB. And I didn’t have to compromise how pretty they are for the price 🙂 BMs said they’d pay me back for them
-Nice plastic silverwear, cups, and napkins on clearance for $30 enough for 100 people
-Free venue (family land)
-Free tables/chairs/tablecloths (church loans them out for free)
-And now finally… MY WEDDING DRESSES!
A local store was having a sale yesterday that ALL clearance gowns are $25, no matter the original price! This store only sells sample gowns that were donated to them from expensive places like Kleinfelds, Bella Rosa, etc. Some of them needed some ‘loving,’ but many of them were in excellent condition. I had SUCH a hard time choosing between dresses. There were 5 that I really loved, but I felt like leaving with 5 dresses was just way too much. hahahaha.
Again, if the deal was not THIS good, I wouldn’t have bought a dress before getting engaged. But I mean, come on. $25 for a wedding dress?! I could not pass that up.
Because the dresses were only $25, I was able to get two. I haven’t decided if I will have a ceremony dress and a reception dress, or if I will just pick one for all day and sell the other.
I went there expecting a fancy, embellished mermaid/trumpet dress, but I hated those on me! I went with more plain, full dresses, to my surprise.
Now, without further ado… my dresses!
It’s hard to tell in this picture, but this dress is blush colored. I may or may not have a sweetheart neckline put in. If I were to split the dresses, this would be the receptiondress since the train is so small, and its a little more ‘fun.’
(embellishments on the train)
This second dress would the the ceremony dress. It used to have embellishments on the bust as well, but they’ve disappeared sometime before they made it to the shop, but I don’t mind! It’s champagne colored.
I didn’t seem to like the pure white dresses on me, the color was just too bright. I think it kinda made my mom sad. haha. She and my sister went with me to the shop, they fully support my crazy buying things before the wedding. haha
I plan on losing about 15lbs time to wear these. I think they’ll look much better then. And I’ll feel better!
