We talked a week or so ago about the “timeline” and he said it would be before the end of the year. So I literally cannot think about anything else!!!
I feel like its all I talk about with anyone and all I look at on the internet! I’m looking at wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, looking into pricing for invitations. Its getting bad!
I’m trying to do everything I can to distract myself, but its so hard….. I just want to start the “real” planning process and marry the man! =) I hate waiting.

I know it’s so hard but it’s best to try and disconnect from wedding things for a while. Do you have any hobbies or things that you can use to keep yourself busy so you don’t just sit there and think about it?

not really….. I’m too busy with work to really have a hobby. I guess I could find something crafty to do…. blah! =)

I don’t know if this’ll happen to you, but my wedding planning “fever” comes in waves. Like right now; I really don’t want to look at anything wedding related but am all over baby planning, house decorating, and those types of future things.

@ms.oregon.state: I’m in the same boat as you; we are probably getting engaged in the next few months and I can’t stop thinking about it! Maybe try to leave the planning aside for now and try to enjoy your last months as a ‘single’girl, that’s what I try to do 🙂

I know completely how you feel. My BF just told me yesterday that he really likes my idea for a reception location. It is taking everything in me to not call them for a menu.

Trust me I’ve been there. It’ll slow down a bit. The excitement is still fresh for you. After a few months or less you will have a calm to you and won’t consume yourself with pre-planning so much. Especially once you’ve researched all you can. There is only so much you can do before making final decisions, deposits, etc. It happened to me. Enjoy waiting. I’m so happy for you that you have concrete timeline. How exciting!!!

I am in the same boat as many of you Bees. The proposal is pending and the excitment can barely be contained and all you want to do is throw yourself into wedding planning. Just try and be patient. Take a Zumba or caligraphy class (that could come in handly down the line). Reconnect with friends, make a list of books to read this summer, take up a cooking class…anything you can do to keep your mind from getting idle. Pretty soon you will be up to your neck in planning and longing for your old waiting days.

@ms.oregon.state: Just for another point of view… if you’re too busy for a hobby, but you have time for wedding planning browsing, you could always reach for a hobby any time you’re *tempted* to plan. If you have time to plan for a wedding that’s not yet happening, you have time to read or color, or knit, or scrapbook.
Like, I keep a lace shawl that I’m knitting near my computer at home. Any time I start to think about looking at stuff, I reach for that, and do a couple of rows until the urge passes.
That doesn’t help if you’re at work, but if you’re at work, you probably have a work task that you could do as a distraction instead. 🙂

Thank you!! I think this post made me wake up! I have no desire to look at wedding stuff today! haha =) I guess I can look at home decor stuff, my less “CRAZY”
@smiley3: you are much stronger than I!!! I’ve already gotten menus, packages, and price lists from all my top places.
I just haven’t taken a tour of anything! Thankfully I’ve been to a ton of weddings in the last 3-4 years so I’m taking notes!
Here’s the zinger, I’m a wedding and event planner as a CAREER! =( its all I do all day long at work. Which just makes me sad that I’m not planning my own yet.
But yes, I need to start a new book or something! Maybe I will start a scrapbook and keep my hands busy! =)

@ms.oregon.state: Ouch. Yeah, work’s not much of a distraction then.
I vote for macrame.

@bluesgirl: haha I really doubt I am talented enough to do that, but it would be something good to try and get my mind off things.
