I am avoiding working on my final grad school essay for the end of this semester and thus was wondering who else here has had to make silly threats to their SO’s because they have repeatedly done something ridiculous. This morning I went to throw a paper towel away and saw not one, not two, but THREE good-sized, good-quality peices of tupperware in there. Apparently DH had been hoarding them in his trunk/backpack and I picked one up and recognized leftovers from a meal I made at MINIMUM 2 months ago. I immediately texted him that he is henceforth banned from all tupperware. If he cannot rinse and return his tupperware at the end of the day, I will be putting leftovers of all kinds–from pasta to pot roast to soup–into ziploc baggies until he can learn NOT TO RUIN OUR TUPPERWARE WITH ROTTING FOOD.
Then I rolled my eyes and realized that this is a serious threat I had to make to a 27 year old man who’s working on his MD. Seriously!

Well, to be fair, you didn’t HAVE to threaten him. You could have just as easily explained to him why you were upset, with the understanding that it is not likely his intention to upset you, and that he probably had no idea how important an issue this was to you.

Haha! My FI does the same. Now I keep margerine containers and tell him to pack his lunch in there. At least your FI knows how to use a trash can… mine puts trash next to or on but hardly ever IN the trash!!!

Bahaha. My husband does that with smoothies I make for him. He leaves the blender bottle in his car for WEEKS and by the time he brings it in it just smells like rotton fruit. It’s so gross!! He also fails to put the toilet paper on the roll thingy. It drives me insane (especially considering I’ve accidentally knocked two rolls in the toilet in the past month)

We buy lunch meat for his sandwiches in those plastic containers. They make really great leftover containers and if they get ruined in any way, it’s not sad to throw them out. Glad also makes amazing cheap throw-away containers too. I have a stack of those next to the Hillshire Farms (or other) lunch meat ones.

@futureMrsTapp: “threaten” is more of a figure of speech than a reflection of an aggressive, mean way that I spoke to him. I even used emoticons in my text 🙂 the post is supposed to be all in good fun, becuase I figured we all have those “eye roll” moments with our SO’s

@MrsDrRose612: This isn’t threatening, but more like bribing. I’m trying to get my fiance to exercise more… he’s gained a fair amount in the last few years and has basically stopped exercising (partly due to stress/depression, poor guy). So I told him I’d give him a BJ every time he did 30 minutes of strenuous exercise. Lol, whatever works!
@Brideonabudgetlauren: I don’t think I’ve *ever* had my guy put a roll of toilet paper on the hanger, after nearly 10 years of living together! Literally not once! I’ve just accepted that it’s my job 🙂

@MrsDrRose612: I understood what you meant. If this were my husband, I would have a talk with him tonight about responsibility. As an adult, he has to be responsible for getting the container back in usable shape and in a decent amount of time. That would really irk me.

I think I have told SO a million times that he is not going to be allowed to use the bathroom in my apartment if he doesn’t learn to put the seat down. That is hazardous to ones health when you try and go to the bathroom at 5 a.m. half asleep 🙁

Dollar Tree sells tupperware clones for $1. Isnt that easier than creating drama.

hahah we do this all the time.
I told him if he doesnt help with the laundry once in awhile i’m going to stop doing his. I actually stopped washing his one time, and he got the hint and helped lol.

@MrsDrRose612: haha, I do that too! It’s so gross. We buy take out trays in bulk from sams/Costco, it’s about $9 for 100ish trays, it definitely solved my problem.

@retreadbride: Where’s the fun in that? I’m looking forward to seeing him try to eat soup out of a plastic baggie.
It’s just a joke!! No mean, ill-will meant, or any drama created! Geesh!

@MrsDrRose612: I started buying those “semi-disposable” containers that you can get, like 5 for $3 (Glad) just in case of a situation like this, lol. 😉
