Ok so one week ago today (eeeek!) I got engaged! We are doing a January wedding and I work with students and Im off for the summer so I decided, “why not go ahead and start on the flowers?” MrH and Momma Faithy agreed.
I’ll be carrying ribbon flowers with a layer of French beaded flowers over that to give it some sparkly (evening wedding with lots of candle light) and the bridesgals will carry frosted lanterns with flickering lights inside. So that leaves me making the arangements for the ends of the pews, my bouquet, the bouts, and whatever flowers are necessary in the reception hall. Am I biting off too much? Other brides who have done this please give me some feed back!
A little back story on my crafting: a local folk art shop carries my french beaded flowers, paintings, quilts, and knitted items. I also work off of commision during the summer. Problem comes in where I was commissioned to make at least 5 bridesmaids dresses for my friend’s October wedding.
Im looking at making:
my center pieces
reception hall decor.
is this doable or am I setting myself up for failure?

It’s a lot of work but completely do-able. I would always keep in mind if you get overwhelmed there’s always Esty.

@lilFaithy: That really isn’t too much work, so I wouldn’t even stress about it. I think it’s totally doable as long as those bridesmaid dresses aren’t overly complex.

@lilFaithy: Can you post a pic of your flower idea? I don’t really know what you mean but ribbon anything sounds lovely. 🙂

@Soon2BD-CBee: +1 I’m crafty as all get out but if push comes to shove I’m happy to pay someone else to do it.
@lilFaithy: None of that sounds too time consuming. It’s not like you’re planning on knitting shawls for everyone or anything. I would prioritize things… like if the pew decorations could be scraped and you wouldn’t be heartbroken- do those last. But that list looks totally doable to me.

You’ve got some time, so as long as you keep working at it & don’t wait till the last minute I think it will be fine

@housebee: Ive been away from my computer most of the week! sorry this reply is so late!
The bridesmaids dresses really arent complex at all. I should be able to to spend roughly 3 hours on each and call it done. They are actually skirts for a horseback/barn wedding (the bride boards her horses at the facility where I train/teach riding lessons). super simple and in denim material.
Thanks to a change in colors, because the sanctuary really clashed with my proposed color scheme, things will be more simple on my part so Im feeling a lot more optomistic!
