Budget?  Some dresses you’ve tried on and what you don’t like about them?

what about something like this? – its a little fitted up top with. you could switch the beaded sash for a plain, flowered or lace sash and you could easily modify the neckline to a sweetheart

This dress is plain but classic. You could remove the flower if you wanted. Its a decent price and it really leave you open to accessorizing. AND it has pockets!

I see you are in Florida. Are you really into the idea of the “bridal salon experience,” or would you be interested in looking for something a little more off-the-beaten-track?

Brides Against Breast Cancer is based in Florida, and they do a lot of events there. They also do events around the country, but it seems like they have a pretty regular presence in your state. If you would be up for checking out one of their gown sales, you might find something more unique than what you’d find in a retail bridal shop – and you’d be supporting a good cause. Their volunteers are really great, too. Shopping for my gown with them was an all-around wonderful experience. Might be worth checking out if you’re disillusioned by what you’ve seen so far.

Have you tried J Crew? I wanted little to no bling, but that was impossible in most bridal salons. My j crew dress had not a stitch of bling. I wore the Clarice.

They also have a lot of A lines with strappless or sweetheart necklines.

I had no idea J Crew even made wedding gowns, and then when I found out, I finally felt like “OH THIS IS IT!”, because I had a horrible time in traditional wedding salons finding a gown that would suit me.

@GroovyHippieChick:  Love yours!

@Mrs. Payen:  Mine sounds like it meets your reqs as well.  A-line, sweetheart.  There are some embellishments, but they are minimal and it met my desire for something simpler as well, so let me know if you like it, and I will PM you the style number 🙂
