What is your budget?

What is holding you back from the restaurant? They have ballrooms which sounds very conventional to me.

@ellex3:  Which Maggiano’s are you looking at? We use the one in Plano for corporate events, and honestly, I wouldn’t use it for a wedding of 100 people. BUT, then again, I have that connotation in my mind of it. Do you have photos of the room you’d be in? Maggiano’s IS a steal and has great service, for sure.

Is Maggiano’s a chain restaurant? Ive never heard of it so assumed it was a local one.

edit: I just googled it and it has some lovely rooms. Like pp said, do you have any pics?

@ellex3:  I’m presuming that you mean you’re trying to keep your venue rental/food and beverage/linens/china and flatware rental etc/taxes and gratuities budget at $10K and that this is not the budget for not your entire wedding.  Since your budget for the things I noted above should be no more than 50 percent of your entire wedding budget, is your total wedding budget high enough to accommodate either venue?

I think she means $10K for everything? In her above post she said about using Maggiano’s, “estimate cost for everything (venue, food, photos, invites, etc.): under 9k.” So beverage/linens/china and flatware rental etc/taxes and gratuities for Maggiano service should be ~$4k? Technically it should be under that.

Either way OP, if you are looking at keeping it below 10K you cant do the wedding specific venue. No way. Maggiano’s at Plano may be best for you. Post some pictures! I saw some really nice ones of outside and inside but maybe Im not seeing the right Maggiano’s?

Maggiano’s can be amazing (I’ve seen a few that have really great banquet facilities). Personally, I wouldn’t pick the one connected to the mall, but I doubt people will remember that past the initial entrance.  Plus, their food is stellar.  Without seeing pictures of both, I can’t really vote, but I don’t think you could go wrong with either, honestly.

If you’re not 100% sold on Maggiano’s, then maybe do some more venue hunting? On the Knot local boards there are tons of good recommendations – at least, the Houston board is really active so I would guess the Dallas one would be as well 🙂

In Houston there are dozens of venues for budget weddings, where you can keep everything under $10k. So even if the reception hall that you’ve been looking at is pricier than you’re comfortable with, don’t give up the venue hunt! For us we found that it was totally worth the work.

I think the restaurant is a pretty good offer.

I would say, go venue hunting again but I would go with Maggianos.  For me, I would rather save the $5K and do something else with it.  Plus non traditional weddings are totally “in” right now. 🙂  I’m having my wedding and reception in the same location which is a community pool house.
