I know its wrong, I know.  But, I've justified it (in my own mind) by saying I'm just checking to make sure no items are discontinued.  In my defense, I don't know who they were purchase by so I'm not that bad!

Here's my problemo: I'm registered with Target and Crate & Barrel.  But NO ONE is showing my Crate & Barrel registry any love.  Now, I understand it can be a bit more expensive, but I was mindful of that.  I didn't choose expensive things from there at all (except a wine cooler but whatev).  I hope someone checks it out!  I still have a couple weeks.

Do you guys stalk your registry?  Or did you?  And if you registered at 2 or more stores, did you notice one store got more play than the others?

YES and YES! I must admit I am a registry stalker. I did it for my wedding and now I am doing it for my baby shower.

For my wedding, I registered at BBB, Crate and Barrel and Target. BBB got majority of the love. A few items were purchased from CB and only 1 item from Target.

My surprise shower was this past weekend- my ladies did an unbelievable job!! I really tried not to stalk the registry (FI did that - but he knew when the shower was and there were some bugs in the Kohls registry system).

I did check on occassion though to confirm items were not discontinued, and I am happy that I did because all the bedding we selected was- so I changed that out with only a few days before (and I am so happy that we did because we got all of it! Although now we have to repaint the bedroom)

My Kohls registry was completely wiped out (I think there are 5 items left- and we got a ton of gift cards to complete it, I have a fair amount of things left on the C&B registry, but nothing is expensive- I honestly think that Kohls was chosen over C&B in most instances because it is more convenient than getting to C&B.

Ok, I'm a registry stalker, and I see NOTHING wrong with it.  I know there's a debate on this issue, but I figure you ladies will understand and be on my side.  Who cares??  The gifts are coming directly to me anyway, so I'm about to find out, and WHAT is the harm in looking and seeing what's taken and what's still there??  I'm registered at BBB and Target, and Target has gotten NO love.  None.  Nothing has been purchased off the Target registry.  Granted, it's more of an untraditional registry--many, MANY things for my xbox and Wii are on there, but so what??  Someone's gotta take me up on it eventually!  I say, keep stalking!  It's fun!

Ah, I'm so glad I'm not alone!  I accidentally told my Mother I had snooped and she tweaked.  Silly Mom, she just doesn't get it!

i haven't even mailed out my shower invites and i'm already itching to check my registries every day... LOL, just to add more things on the list i guess... (FI and i haven't really done registry things besides a lil bit here and there online - we're getting cash from most of our guests).

and our house is already stocked full of stuff from my FMIL who did an excellent job stocking our kitchen/dining/bathrooms etc.

anyway... i can't wait until these are finally mailed and i get to registry stalk for real! ;P

My #1 registry item got purchased today!  I am so excited and cannot wait for the shower this weekend.  I have a lot of duplicate items on my Kohls, Target and Macys registry so I check to try to keep up with it.  It seems that even if I check at 10 pm the night before, the updates don't hit until the next morning.  I am not sure if it instantly updates when someone purchases or if they wait and do a nightly update.

My target registry hasnt' gotten too much love.  A LOT  of our big ticket items have been purchased.   Like 3 out of the 5 items that were over $200 have already been purchased.  I guess they could have just already purchased for the wedding, but maybe they are for the shower?

@caszos- its true, some people buy early for the wedding because they don't want the 'good stuff' to be purchased for the shower.  Because truthfully, a lot of time, after the shower, most of the stuff left is no fun.

I'm happy with the purchases that have been made so far.  We'll finally have new dishes and new pots.  We need them badly!

@jennifer: If most of your fam lives upstate, that might be why your C&B registry gets no love.  The closest store is at Woodbury Commons!  In fact, we were originally going to register there but my fam is not online shoppers and we never would have gotten anything!

I was guilty of stalking my registry too. Glad i did because the dishes and the bath accessories were discontinued. I did make myself not look at it for the 2 weeks before my showers so that I'd be surprised.  I have since looked at it again and fixed the items that didn't get marked off so that I don't have duplicates.

I did not look at my registry for the 3 weeks before my shower this past Saturday and I'm so glad I didn't. It was fun to be surprised about what I was getting. The next day I went online and tidied the registries up a bit and now I'm not going to look at them again until after my next shower.

I think it's totally fine to look at your registries, but I like the surprise of not knowing what to expect at a shower :)

I recently started my registry and I must admit, it is sort of fun to stalk my registry!  I also keep updating it as I get ideas or decide I don't really need something I added.  I opted on just one registry because I thought it would be easier for me to handle.  But, I think having 2 is a grat idea for a variety of items.

Yea, I am thinking that some of the items have to be for the wedding.  Seriously 3 things have been purchased that are all almost $200 each.  Plus another 2 items that are almost $100.  I can't imagine all that being for a shower.  This shower is with my moms friends so I'm sure they spend a bit more on shower gifts then me and my friends normally would but still, that would be insane!

In response to the last comment by caszos-  I have about $500 worth of Williams Sonoma merchandise to pick up this week at my sister's house.  These gifts are destined for the shower- not the wedding.  I would rather wait till after the B&G get back and take stock of what they received, and then fill in some of the gaps post wedding.

There is also a psychological component in showers attended by older ladies... they try to outdo one another, either in terms of "niceness" of gift, or gift creativity.  So it makes great sense to me that many of the good gifts will be unveiled at the shower where the giver can see how much the bride likes the item.

I don't know if FDIL checks her registry too often... their invitations haven't gone out yet- but the WS registry is really getting some attention.

@hotchild- I thought about that.  But we have a lot of friends and some family here in the city so I was hoping they'd be hip to the crate & barrel coolness!  Oh well :)

I used to check/update our registry about once every two weeks ... and then we got our first present about a month ago and it was SO EXCITING, so I started checking more often and saw a few more things as "fulfilled", and seriously it's like crack or something cuz now I check at least once a day!!
