But your story IS cute! (Or maybe I'm a big nerd but I loved the presidential debate date!) And I mean, it's not like you can make stuff up ("Oh, we enjoy windsurfing and skiing"). My advice would be to answer honestly, and if she doesn't like the responses I guess she can just come up with a different kind of game...
aww, your first date sounds super cute! and how you met! it's easier said than done, but don't worry about if your relationship doesn't fit into the the kind of "romantic" conventional (i'd say cliche?) your fmil wants--it's your relationship, and what rings true for you and your fi is what matters :)
not totally the same thing, but for a really long time, my fi and i were embarassed about how we met. we met on a blind-date through a dating website. we would tell people a different story, that we met at a bar. a couple years into the relationship (we've been together 3 1/2 years now), we realized it was ridiculous--how we actually met was a much better story, and it was more "us" than the silly story (ie, we are both way too shy to actually hit on someone at a bar, and i would have been too oblivious to notice that a guy actually liked me unless he was a skeevy guy coming on too strong, haha). so, that was a long way of saying, your stories are way, way better than any other because they're what makes your relationship yours! don't think about what she wants you to say, think about what makes you you! and, that's really sweet that she's throwing you a party and wants to make the game!
i think your story is soo cute... like the hammer is like you came to the day to rescue the soles of his shoes with a hammer! and the two of you chillax all the time to chicken nuggets and curly fries... you loved the relaxing atmosphere of your engagement picture because it spoke to you as a couple, you are definitely the no-froo froo type
I think your story sounds cute too. What about things you like to talk about or restaurants you like to go or food you like or goals for the future.
Thanks everyone... I think our stories are cute too but I guess she wants more concrete things?? Like specific movies, restaurants, etc. Sigh.
or maybe seasons....or pumpkins or yellow or ..... i don't know.
Are you friends with a good storyteller? Have them help you, my sister can make the most 'mundane' thing sound exciting, it's all about the spin.
your favorite restaurant is fi's kitchen where he makes the BEST dinosaur chicken nuggets and curly fries!!!
your favorite movies are anything playing on lifetime or tnt (y'all love comedies, horrors, loveyd-dovey movies)
Aw, thanks guys :) I sent her an email with a few of our favorite songs and movies, though none of them are that representative of us, hopefully it will help her. I also told her our honeymoon is very "us". We are going to Charleston because its laidback and relaxed like our relationship. We love to go to new restaurants and Charleston is known for its dining. Also, we are opposites in a lot of ways, and Charleston has historical sightseeing for him and beaches and shopping for me! Hopefully the honeymoon thing will sum up how FI and I are alike and different for her.

So my FMIL is planning a great engagement party for us and I'm pretty excited. She wants to do fun, "theme-y" games and that kind of thing, and asked me - What's your favorite movie or song together? What's your favorite hobby?
My answer: Uhh... we like to eat pizza and watch TV...
I felt so embarrassed that I couldn't say, Oh yeah, we love to do X, Y, Z! It's just that FI and I have a pretty low key relationship. Our first date wasn't good enough for her, even though I think its adorable - he made us chicken dinosaur nuggets and curly fries and we watched the presidential debates. She doesn't really love the story of how we met either - he borrowed a hammer from me. She wants more conventionally cute stuff and I can't give it to her!
What do I do? I've been trying to make a list all day of things to tell her but its just making us sound more lame.
