- Wedding: October 2013
Oh, my, bees – I can’t believe that it has happened, but I have selected and ordered (yesterday) my dress! I feel a little sick – is that normal? LOL
I had previously posted about my struggles with choosing a dress. I originally fell in love with a lace Oleg Cassini with pink floral appliques – on the rack. On my body, not so much… : ( Back in January, after a couple of false starts and uncertainty about what type of wedding we were going to have, I threw my hands up and decided that I would settle for an inexpensive bridesmaid dress. I was convinced I was going to be wearing brown taffeta.
Last Friday, two close friends and I went dress shopping – and I ended up with nothing of the sort!
Here’s me, in Presca Marie (not so great cell pic):
and here’s the model:
Not an inch of taffeta. At first I thought, lace over satin? And then I remembered the Oleg and reallized that this whole search had just circled back on itself…
Last night, after I ordered it, I started to worry that FI might not like it, so I started showing him pics of a variety of dresses. Once I heard his comments, I started to panic – because he liked more simple designs (he thinks the “tucks and pleats look weird”), and seemed to not favor lace! When he saw me getting freaky, he came over and hugged me and said “I’m marrying you, not a dress. If you like the flowers and frills, you get the flowers and frills.”
And then, he actually woke up in the middle of the night and told me to get whatever dress I wanted – and then proceeded to tell me that he wasn’t going to wear jeans (all along I’ve been telling him he can wear jeans, a dress shirt, cowboy boots and his cowboy hat) if I was going to wear something “fancy”. Those are the moments you know they love you, huh? For the record, I’m still in favor of the cowboy look…
It’s starting to get real! I feel a bit sick. Is that normal? LOL ; )
