I was recommended to an alterations place by a well known bridal shop. I called and she was very nice. I was suppose to go this weekend to her and I sent my bridesmaid to go there and get her dress taken in a bit at the hips. Well my BM goes in yesterday and this woman tells her to put in on. My friend comes out and this woman tells her it is the ugliest dress she has seen and could not believe a bride would want her bridesmaids to wear it but then told her not to tell the bride. My friend left the dress and called me. Within 10 minutes I was there and picked it up. The woman asked if I was the bride i SAID YES I AM! I grabbed it and slammed her door. I was so angry I couldnt believe the nerve of this lady. So heartless. Anyone else deal with people like this who just should have kept their mouth shut? Is this dress not appropriate for an out door courtyard wedding?

That is so incredibly rude of her! I think that dress is adorable so I don't know what her problem is! Plus, she should keep her mouth shut. I'm sure she sees a lot of things that are truly ugly but it's not her business to say. She should do her work and get paid for it.
Ummm I think that dress is super cute! I'd be excited to wear it, since I'd know I'd get to wear it again. I wouldn't worry about what she thinks!
I couldnt believe her! Why would you talk crap? Your getting paid to take it in not voice your opinion. This woman owns the store. I literally googled it and left a bad review on everysite this morning. It was a total of about 7 which were the top ones. YELP being one of them LOL
I cant say that I've encountered that problem yet, but that was totally uncalled for and rude! The real reason I'm posting though is to tell you that the lady must have been blind. I think that dress is great and very similar to what my bridesmaids are wearing! I'm just amazed that she said it was ugly and couldnt believe a bride would have her friends wear it... it's not ugly, not to mention I have seen sooooo much worse! :)
I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with this lady, but I hope you can find someone else who will do your alterations for you and keep their mouth shut!
So weird, especially since that's a super cute dress and will def get wear even after the wedding!!
I actually own this dress in red, so no, this woman doesn't know what she is talking about. I wore it for Valentines and got nothing but compliments on the dress.

Even if the dress was hideous she should of NEVER said that!! How does she know who your BM is to you anyhow?? Your best friend, sister?? And what if your BM had picked out the dress herself!!

Thanks i feel better LOL To be honest for a minute I really wondered if it wasnt right for a bridesmaid dress. I mean it isnt ugly but i questioned it being in the wedding.
She must of been having a horrible day. The dress is really pretty. Perfect for a outside wedding.
Let it go.... It's a matter of personal opinion! Why do you care what she thinks?! I'm sure as a bride you have too many other things to worry about than the personal fashion opinion of someone not even attending your wedding. Don't let the stupid stuff stress you out.

Holy rude! Can I tell you that I didn't even read your post, scrolled down to see the picture first, and the first thing that came out of my mouth was, "wow! What a cute dress!" I can't believe that seamstress! I don't blame you for being angry!
I like it. I was expecting something pickle green that looked as if it was pulled off of a runway.... maybe with the dracula neck-thing coming up the back... : D
I have that dress in red, too!! It's stinkin' cute. Hopefully, the seamstress will think twice next time she wants to editorialize out loud!
When my cousins new gf was looking at my wedding pictures with my sisters (I wasn't there), the gf started making comments about how brides always make their bm wear the ugliest dresses. It was the first time she met my sisters and I'd never met her yet. From the way it sounded it seemed like she was trying to bond with them over gossiping with ugly dress talk.
But.......I wasn't the one who picked out the dress, I just kinda gave them a color and we all looked but it was my one sister who found it and they all thought it was the best one. So it kinda backfired because they're like 'we liked it, we picked it out!'. But instead of the gf just laughing it off or saying whoops, sorry she just got all defensive.
Oh well, I think some people just don't know how to hold a conversation without being mean/gossiping about someone else.

I think troubled is right, some people just feel so bad about themselves that they can only lift themselves up by putting others down.

Haha...troubled, that's classic! But that's so true...how did that seamstress know that the bride picked out the dress? What if it were your bridesmaid that picked it out?? She would've lost even more business! Just goes to show that she should keep her mouth shut about taste. Her job is to alter the dress, not comment on if she likes it or not!
Wowwww. That woman needs a bad review anywhere you can put it. That dress is awesome I think and your friend can definitely wear it later with some amazing heels for a nice night out! Don't worry about what she said, find somewhere else and then post the review where you can.
I love how she made sure to add "Oh don't tell the bride I said that!" Obviously she knew she was being extremely rude!
The dress is great. (period!) I don't know what kind of dresses she likes, but this is not ugly at all.

Is that dress from David's Bridal? I'm in a wedding in June and I am THRILLED that I get to wear this dress. I've been in 6 weddings to date and this is my fave dress by far. It was also the least expensive, and I can honestly say as a bridesmaid-- I will wear the dress again. It's actually been hard to wait till the wedding to wear it!
There's nothing wrong with your dress. F her!! Who the heck does she think she is? If she thinks that cute ass dress is ugly, I would hate to see what she thinks is pretty.

Wow, what a loser. That dress is honest to goodness adorable. I would rewear it in a heart beat. I think you were spot on writing the reviews. Is she the owner? Because if she has a boss you should call and talk about your experience. Maybe even get some money back?
Also, if it were my BM being insulted, I might get her some daffodils or flowers just to say "Hey, sorry I had you go to a store with such a bitchy employee. You're gorgeous."

ITS A DAVIDS BRIDAL REPLICA. ITS FROM DELIAS.COM THEY ALSO HAVE A BUNCH OF STORES IN MALLS. IT WAS EXACTLY LIKE THE DAVIDS BRIDAL VERSION JUST NOT AS LONG BUT I FOUND IT THERE FOR $60 BUCKS CHEAPER!

What is that woman's problem? One of my best friends had a similar experience with a seamstress. When she went for her final fitting, the seamstress saw the heels she was wearing (the ones she bought for the wedding), started cracking up, and asked if she was seriously going to wear those in public!
How rude of her!!! I think the dress is cute actually and would wear it to other formal events!
