... and bought a wedding dress online!!  I haven't even tried on dresses yet because I have so much time until my wedding.  But when I saw this dress I fell in love with it and after several hours of torment, I went ahead and bought it.  I seriously doubt that it will ever fit me, but I still had to do it because of the great price and because I haven't seen a dress that I loved nearly as much as this one.

Here is the dress that made me go temporarily insane: http://www.bridepower.com/wedding-gown-browser.ASP?pid=3399&line=8 It was only $500 so I'm hoping I'll be able to sell it if I can't wear it, or we'll just invite 4 less people to our overpriced reception to make up for it.

Has anyone else had an experience like this?

Yup!  I did the same thing, except I bought it from a weddingbee classified!  If anyone is interested in a Watters 7086B, size 4, in White--let me know!  Asking $500.

Well you can always get it altered if it's too big - better to order big, then small. :-)

    It's beautiful by the way!!!

Hey, you did the exact same crazy thing that I did...only I didn't have a backup plan since I knew this dress was the one. I was only looking on ebay to get an idea of what I liked, and nothing was jumping out at me...then BAM! The measurements were right and it was new with tags. Sweet.

It was the first and last wedding dress I tried on.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only person who has bought a wedding dress on a whim.  Some people made me feel like I had officially gone crazy but I wasn't too worried about it.  If i don't like it/it doesn't fit, I can always return it and all I'm out of are the shipping costs (around $70 total, both ways)

AngiePangie - I didnt buy my dress online but I did buy a Richard Glasgow dress and the fabric is wonderful.  The dress is so well made it is incredible!  I hope that you love it as much as I love mine.  All of the women that work in the dress shop went on and on about what beautiful dresses he made and how it is such a shame that he retired.  Let us all know if it works out!  When do you expect it to arrive?

I didn't buy it online, but my dress is the first I tried on (at a sample sale 2 weeks after I got engaged).  I bought it 14 months before my wedding.  Everyone said I would end up changing my mind, but nope.  I have 6 months to go, just tried it on last night, and it still gets my heart aflutter.  Good for you!  I think the best decisions are the ones you don't obsess about.  Trust your instincts!

Why not go to a store that carries the dress or something similar by the same designer and try it on.  Then you will know if you need to find a seamstress who can make some changes, including regular alterations, or if you need to look for something else just in case.

I did think about trying to find the dress and try it on, but since the designer has retired I was having a hard time finding it.  I was also afraid that it would be gone if I waited and that I would always regret not going for it. :)

The dress should come in about 2 or 3 weeks, I don't know how I'm going to contain myself until it comes!

I bought my dress online without trying on any dresses, and it is still the dress I love (and am using for my wedding) six months later.  Good luck!
