MrsHistory-Bee: We did it 🙂  It was silly and fun.  My MOH caught the bouqet and her boyfriend caught the garter and now they’re engaged!

I participated in the garter/bouquet toss for my FI’s cousin’s wedding and while it was fun, it was super awkward because many of the young singles were related! After FI caught the garter, his cousins stepped aside for me to catch the bouquet but the (very drunk) MOH jumped in front of me at the last second! They played “Single Ladies” and it was all in good fun until the DJ decided to be an absolute pig. He kept pressuring FI to raise the garter further, use his teeth, etc. and then told him he’d chosen the wrong leg and to repeat the whole thing! I think garter/bouquet tosses can be great, but make sure whoever is in charge knows how far your guests are willing to be embarassed and that your participants have sufficient genetic variation! Lol!

Afterwards, FI apologized for the ordeal, but I told him he’ll just have to take mine off with his teeth  We’re undecided about whether we’ll do one at our own wedding. Part of me wants revenge and the other part of me wants to just recognize a friend who’s very close to getting married herself with a bouquet of her own. I got to know her future FI on a school trip before I even met her and the first thing he told us was how he and her sisters had her ring and proposal already planned! That was a few years ago now. Once they graduate it’ll only be a matter of time and I think it’d be cool to recognize that! They’re high school and college sweethearts like FI and I and I think it would be a cool “aww” moment to pass the torch.

ETA: FI’s 80-something grandmother ate it up! The DJ told her to avert he eyes and she looked dead at him and said “I could teach those kids a thing or two!!”  Go Grandma!

Also ETA: Oops! I should add that FI was FI yet! Just BF!

And it wasn’t a huge deal at all. Then again where I am from it is very normal to do both.  In fact it is expected to be done.  It is all done in a good fun.

We did do it,and I am so happy we did!! Before the wedding I was nervous about it but in reality it was so quick and so fun. My husband took it off with his teeth to “pretty fly” by the offspring and he accidentally shot it to the floor!  *fail* but afterwards shot it back and our good friend caught it! Hopefully hes next!

MrsHistory-Bee:  You have to take what is on here with a grain of salt.  A lot of things that poo pooed can be regional.  The Bee is known for saying such n such is tacky this or tacky that.  If you want to do both than go for it. Who cares what a bunch of women/ even some men say on the internet

Oh! And DH wasn’t “seductive” by any means. It was just fun. He pretended he couldn’t get it off and had to call in reinforcements to pull him out. I’d share a picture, but it seems Weddingbee has changed since I was last on here and I’m not sure how 🙁

I caught the bouquet at a friend’s wedding. It was pretty awkward. I didn’t even want to play the game but the bride took the DJ’s mic and guilted everyone especially the bridesmaids (I was ome). Then when the bouquet came flying, everyone else jumped away and it hit me in the chest! The guy who caught the garter (and they used a pretty raunchy sounding song when the groom took it off the bride but I don’t know the name of the song) was one of my best friends. He’s like my brother! And he had to put it on me, up on this little stage and everyone laughing! Never again! I’m goimg to hide in the bathroom any time I’m at a wedding and they do this!
