I finished my first ever half marathon this morning! When I signed up for the race in April my goal was 2 hours and 30 minutes. Once June came around, though, we stopped training and the last time I actually ran was July 17th.
We (the boy and I ran together) ended up finishing 13.1 miles in 2 hours and 40 minutes. I’m so proud!
Now we are laying in bed at the hotel resting. We are going to go to Disneyland (it was the Disneyland Half Marathon) for the rest of the day and have dinner reservations at 8 to celebrate our 2 year anniversary 😀

Oh, congratulations!!! I’m doing my first half on September 26th and have slacked on the training because I’ve been so busy with work and wedding planning. I hope I’m as successful in a few weeks, 2:40 is an amazing first time!
You should order every single dessert on the menu tonight 🙂

@sessaj: Last night we went to Disneyland and ate so many carbs to stock up for the race. And then today my guy’s family met us at the finish line and took us out to a yummy breakfast. I plan on eating everything on the menu tonight! Good luck on your marathon, you’ll do great!!
@everyone: thank you!!

I signed up for a 10k (my first ever race) that’s scheduled for a week after we get back from our honeymoon. Mad props for the half marathon – that’s my next goal 🙂

That is so cool; congrats! You have inspired me!

Congrats! I’ve always wanted to try that…before I became me anyway 😉

@redherring: you’ll rock your 10K! I swear my 1/2 marathon went a lot faster than the 10K I ran in July though!
@MmeSilverBullet: I’m not a runner by nature, I hate every step that I take during races. I seriously don’t understand that whole “runner’s high” thing, I swear it is a myth 😉 But I do it to prove to myself that I CAN do it, I just have to work for it 😀

@babyboo: Thank you!! Hopefully I’ll have enough strength to post that I finished it when it’s over, lol!
@redherring: Good luck!! I’m sure you’ll kick it! 🙂
