I love it! It's so cute and bright! I'm thinking about including them in our wedding.
How about "too much perfect"? Your pomanders are gorgeous. Great job! Way to use your snow days to DIY. :)
Yours look awesone. One of these days I need to just bite the bullet and make ours :)
Aww thank you ladies. I was so excited to share them with the hive. My fiance was hysterial. He looked at me funny when I walked out of michaels with a big bag of flowers and a hot glue gun. I think he doubted my skillz. haha Although when he saw it finished he couldn't stop looking at it. I was very worried they were going to turn out to look like a bad kindergarten project but thankfully they turned out pretty nice. So if you want pomanders I totally recommend DIY. It took me about 20 min. to make one. Not nearly as cheap as you would think but gorgeous.
@miss skinner....my sister is doing yellow and white pomanders for her aisle as well. We are doing carnations though. Yours look really nice.
They look awesome! i like how you combined different colors. great job!
hey great work!!! love the starfish idea.. SO cute!!
and the pomanders!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are going to look so great on your wedding day!
They look gorgeous. I love the idea of alternating with the starfish.
ksnow--No problem. I wanted large pomanders. I used the 6in (I think) green styrofom balls $4/each. The roses were on sale for $3 a bunch, approx. 6-8 flowers per bunch. I splurged a bit to get more realistic roses. I could have gone for the $1 a bunch roses/carnations as a cheaper route. I seriously underestimated how many flowers would be needed for each ball. They needed about 40 flowers per ball. Mine turned out to be about basketball/soccer ball sized. With the cost of flowers and the styrofoam ball it ended up being about $20 per ball. Of course your cost would go down quite a bit by using a smaller ball and cheaper flowers. I know they are a little expensive but I figure I can get some of that cost back by selling them after the wedding. Hope this helps.
Good job!!! They are gorgeous!!! I tested my skills on DIY too.... here are the results....

@obmims--They look great! I love the bright yellow you used. I love to see other Yellow wedding pics. I don't see them as often. I couldn't find any bright yellow blooms at Michaels when I went. So I settled on a softer shade. I was looking for carnations but all they had were stark white and hot pink.
Here are a couple I did as mock-ups for my sister's wedding. The roses she didn't like so I will be taking that one apart. The other one is white & yellow carnations.
@Jamaica Bride-- Yours looks great! I really like the compact look of carnations and the printed ribbon. Very pretty.
My sister's wedding colors are black, white, and yellow. She is using damask table runners at the reception so I thought it would be cool to tie the ceremony and reception together by using damask ribbon.

I am a kindergarten teacher in the DC area and have been snowed in for approximetly a week. With this time I decided to play around with DIY pomanders. I am typically NOT a fan of silk flowers anywhere in a wedding but this is the easiest and most cost efficient way for pomanders. The rest of my wedding will have fresh flowers. This is a picture of our wedding location, not us, and a picture of my pride and joy. I am going to alternate, every other row, with a kissing ball and a starfish ribbon. I have not made those yet. They will be yellow ribbon with a white starfish. Let me know what you think. Too much or perfect?
