My sister-in-law found out at the end of May and my nephew was born at the beginning of September.  She had been on the shot, which you’re not supposed to have a period with…. soooo she didn’t know.  When she did finally figure it out, she was visiting us in Alaska and we had just gone ocean fishing.  She was throwing up the whole time and we had no idea why since she never had motion sickness before.  Other than that, I guess she didn’t notice the symptoms.  Quite a (happy) surprise!

My mom didn’t know she was pregnant with me until she was 6 months along.  As for how she didn’t notice right away:

-Period?  She always had irregular periods, and she experienced period-like spotting during the pregnancy.
-Weight gain?  She struggled with diets, so her weight often went up and down.
-Movement?  I rarely moved in utero.

I’m not sure how she realized I existed lol.

that;s so crazy, I can’t imagine not knowing.  everyone is different but I feel like I would be so aware because my periods are like clockwork and weight is pretty stable.

I have a friend who didn’t know until 5 months.  She missed a period but took test after test and then started having her period again- more spotting than period.  She gained about 20lbs and all in her tummy area, so she finally went to the doctor and said, look- either I’m pregnant, or I have a tumor in my stomach, because there’s no way I’m eating enough to gain like this.

They did an ultrasound and sure enough, a healthy little girl was kicking around in there.  We were all on pins and needles b/c she smoked and drank quite a bit before she found out.  Baby’s fine, turns two this year 🙂

Scary though.

An old friend of my mom’s wife never knew she was pregnant until she was about 7 months.  She still got her period, took BC, and was smoking/drinking.  She had tests done at one point and the doctors didn’t realize it either.  I’m shocked the baby came out so healthy.

Same happened to my best friend’s sister.  She drank like a friggin fish too.

This TERRIFIES me because I drink a lot.. my justification is I never drank in college, so now I make up for it on the weekends 😉 But seriously, I could do some SERIOUS damage if I didn’t know I was pregnant for months…. TERRIFYING.

I found out I was pregnant after 5 months. I didn’t have my period back then because I was only about 90 pounds and it would come once every couple of months for as little as 2 times a year. I just thought I was sick. I didn’t get a huge belly or anything either I only had a little knot on the left side of my lower stomach. I thought that was possibly a tumor actually.

I had a blood test done at the doctors to see if I was pregnant and it came up negative. They gave me an ultrasound and that’s how I found out.

I didn’t know until I went to the Dr with complaints of stomach flutters and fainting. The Dr came in after some tests and I was describing the flutters and he said ‘well that’s the baby moving’. I couldn’t respond, I was floored. I had no changes and certainly wasn’t expecting that response. I made an appointment the next day and found out I was about 5 months along. That was a lot to adjust to but it cut my waiting time down! 🙂

I don’t know anyone recently where this has happened, but when I was about 9 this happened to a woman who lived 2 doors down from us. I was out playing one day and there was an ambulance outside of her house. 2 days later she came home with a baby – and she’d never known she was even pregnant. I remember all the families in the neighbourhood (it was really tightknit….all the kids played together and everyone knew everyone) were flocking over to see her and were bringing as much baby stuff as they could since she had NOTHING. My mom sent me over with toys and blankets while she followed with some food.

Apparently the woman had been having irregular periods her entire life, she struggled with her weight so didn’t notice the 15lbs she gained, and had no other symptoms at all.

@Mrs. Meowerson:  Yup. He just kept going on about how my symptoms were normal and my husband (at the time) and I were just sitting there in shock the entire time. I think we uttered a thank you as we left but that’s about all that was said after he told us.
