How do you write a review of your vendors?  And even though it is set for my city why are all the reviews for places that are in the state next to mine?  I don't recognize a single place in my city.

When you click on one of the 6 pictures (dresses for example), you should be able to find your vendor under there.  Click on their name and you should see a button that says "Review this Vendor".

The vendor tab looks like it is for vendors that have paid a fee to be featured on this site. If you click on a vendor, there is a place to write a reveiw. If your vendor hasn't paid to be on this site, you won't get to write a reveiw.

I have clicked on those tabs and none of my vendors are there.  They are all vendors in Iowa.  I'm in Minnesota.  While, Iowa is a mere 60 miles away, this won't really be helpful for brides in my city.

And it has the right location at the top of the screen?  That's odd.

@noritake: I don't think that the vendors paid to be put on the site, they are reviews brought over from Wedding Wire.  Here is Mrs. Penguin's post introducing the vendor tab.

Yep, I made sure it had my city selected.  Is there a way to just add a new vendor instead of using the ones listed?

Here are the Minnesota directories.  I'm not sure exactly where you live.

EDIT: Are you in Rochester?  I see that all the vendors are in another state.  Maybe ask them on the Support site about it?

Sorry that it isn't working for you Bella!  It's probably just some bugs since it just went live recently.

Thank you MissAcB. I think you are right. I just looked for mine and it was there and I haven't paid to be on here. I think this is a great service.

*cough* Where do I request that they add an area? The Idaho tab bothers me because it includes TWO southern Idaho areas, but does not include the other large cities in the state aka Lewiston and/or Coeur d'Alene which is on the other end of the state. I had hoped that wb would understand that not everyone lives in the southern half of the state...

I don't know much about the new Vendors feature... I wasn't involved with it at all.

But I'll make sure the right person looks into any bug reports or questions posted to the Support forum!

Ummm...actually I was wondering if you could put any vendors up for Idaho that are NOT in Boise or Pocatello...there isn't a single one listed under the Idaho tab...please let me add some or something, I know of soo many that could be listed.

I really like this as a resource, I've been looking FWD to using it but I think the set up is a little confusing at 1st.

I'm not sure if it's listed by town/city or region. Larger places like Albany cover more areas while lower NY - New Rochelle, Mt. Vernon & Yonkers in Westchester for example - I think it'd be easier if most of these vendors were lumped in together. Could just be that it's new and I'm just learning to navigate it too.

Thanks everyone for the feedback / comments!

@amariem25, only vendors can add themselves to the directory.  Next week we'll be launching that feature, so once it's live you can definitely suggest that they add themselves so you can review them!  Smile

Thanks Lorienne. If you need vendor suggestions or anything just let me know. I still have a lot of stuff from bridal fairs and whatnot and know of most of the vendors in this area.

Oh, I also wanted to mention that if you're looking for a particular city, you mouse over the "vendor search" link in the green bar and search that way....you'll probably see other locations in Idaho that way.  We just had to limit the size of the list of cities we put up because it could have been veeeeeeeery long otherwise!

Also, we have not forgotten about our friends to the north, you search Canadian cities that way, too!  Smile

@ceamoste, I mentioned in my previous post but wanted to make sure you saw, you can find Canadian vendors by using the "vendor search" feature linked from the green bar.

@lorienne - because the vendor has to add themselves don't you think that kind of defeats the purpose?  I have a couple of vendors whom I'd like to give negative reviews so that I could warn other brides.  Which of those vendors are actually going to add themselves to the site now?

Ummm, the search isn't working correctly I don't think...I searched for Coeur d'Alene and Spokane from the Idaho tab, but wasn't able to find anything. When I went to Washington -> Spokane, I found places in Hayden, Hayden Lake, CDA, Post Falls, etc. If nothing else you could link it over to the Idaho tab or something along those lines, because otherwise there is nothing to tell you to look there for it when in fact there are many vendors that should be listed there.

@amariem25, the reason they don't have brides add vendors (and we learned this lesson the hard way on our sister site, Project Wedding) is that we'd end up with lots of duplicate postings with different spellings, contact information (sometimes outdated), etc.  which can be SUPER confusing / frustrating to brides trying to find a vendor.  We'll be adding a link next week where you can suggest that we add a vendor, but for now if you'd like to PM me the vendor's name, I'll pass that suggestion along to the team!  Smile

@Toffee, that's weird - when I searched for Couer d'Alene and Spokane (from the Idaho tab, though you can search from anywhere) I did get results:  one vendor and one photographer.  You got a message saying no results?

@Lorienne It wouldn't find anything for me. Although I would suggest migrating those over to the "Idaho" tab because they are Idaho cities. When I searched for Coeur d'Alene it would make it look like: Coeur d\ instead in the search bar. Maybe it's just me lol

@Toffee, did you happen to copy/paste the name?  I wonder if funky/special characters are what caused the search to fail.  I typed it in which might be why I got results and you did not?

Hmm. .it's not working re concerns about finding your city/area/country. As tests, I used Vendor Search to find "dress" in Canada or Vancouver, CAnada, nothing turned up. I also typed in Mariposa, CA (it's not in the CA list), or the zip cod 95389. Nothing turned up. I wondering if the "near" thing is actually working. Even if my city isn't found, shouldn't it direct me to the "nearest" option?

If there are no vendors, can't I still be successful in changing my location? or click on categories (e.g. dress) that leads me to an empty list? Sorry to bombard you with all these questions... I'm excited about this feature myself.

@pren79, thanks so much for the detailed feedback!

As a further test, I searched for Vancouver, B.C. and I did get a bunch of results:

    http://www.weddingbee.com/reviews/search?name=dress&location=vancouver,+b.c.

Although the directory does include some vendors in Canada, anything outside of the US is likely to be less plentiful, but hopefully as our international Hive brides send through recommendations for new locations (that feature will launch next week!) we'll be able to expand the areas covered with this directory.

Also, you should be able to change your location either by clicking on another location in the pulldown or by searching for a new location - is that giving you problems?

Hello, all. One thing to note is that you need to search for something, like "hotels" or "dress" in whatever city you are looking for.

We've added a default of "Venue" in the search box, but you can replace it with whatever you'd like.

Regarding cities not showing up in the list, blame it on a little bit of ignorance.

If you let us know a few of the cities you'd like to see, we'll be happy to add them.

@Toffee, We've fixed that for you. Good eye.

    Yay, Mr. Bowtie, thank you!

OK Hive, sadly I have to run to the gym so my personal trainer can kick my butt for a while.   Cry   But your questions, etc. are important to us so I'll check in on this thread when I get home from the gym, which should be around 730pm PST!

Mr Bowtie and Lorienne - Is there a way to add the Melbourne Florida area as a city?  There are already a lot of vendors from this area listed but they are all in Orlando.  Melbourne is over an hour away from Orlando so I'm not sure people would think to look there.

Maybe it would be best to be displayed as Brevard County or Space Coast?  That way it would include Melbourne, Palm Bay, Vierra, Eau Gallie, Indian Harbor Beach, etc.

I have a ton of additional vendors from this area that would be neeat to see posted on here, how can we recommend them to you, so you can ask them to join?

Also, I know that there have been a lot of posts on WB saying do not trust WeddingWire reviews.  How do you plan to combat that?  Will vendors still simply be allowed to take down negitive comments?  Will the weddingwire and weddingbee reviews be seperated?
