I think they look great, but if you want to liven up the liner or envelope, maybe a fun colored stamp or two would help.
Get a stamp in the same red and stamp (or Gocco) some sort of design on the gray liner?
More info needed:
What are your colors? Is the red the inner envelope? If you have silver I think you are fine. You could just switch up inner envelopes to same color as outer- although I like the red. Honestly these are fine. If really bothered is it possible to place a black or dark inner liner where silver is?
Stamp on the liner and maybe on the front of the envelope too since there is a lot of white space?
Thanks for the feedback everyone :)
Our main color is a claret red - a deep, darker red. We're also using a lot of white, and shades of light yellow (mainly in the flowers.) The red you see in the pic is actually just a placeholder piece of cardstock, to make sure it's the right size.
I've never worked with stamps before, and I don't have a gocco machine. Any suggestions on what type/color?
You know, I might have spoken too soon. I just printed an actual invite - I hadn't done that before because I'm trying to save my nice paper/ink - but before I made any additional changes I thought I'd try it with the actual insert. And, it looks a whole lot better. I still think the gray needs something, but I'm pretty relieved right now. :)
The better envelope makes a difference too!
I love the grey and claret together. If there both colors are represented anywhere else in the invitation suite, you should be fine to leave the grey liner as is.
I think I was posting at the same time you were posting your pics.
You're right, it does look nicer with the better envelope. I think it would really help pull everything together if you changed the branches from brown (on my monitor they look brown anyway) to grey.
Overall, I think you've done a great job with the design! I diy'd my own invitations and in retrospect, I was my harshest critic--but it was all so worthwhile in the end!!!
I actually really like it a lot! I think if you still aren't sure about the liner, adding a stamp in red would look great!
I think it looks beautiful! If you wanted to add a little something, you could print the same branch motif on the outside of the envelope under the address.
Thanks everyone for your help! I think I am going to look around for a stamp (red ink) and see how it looks. Thank goodness it actually looks a lot better with the white invitation... what a relief!
I love the stitching! It reminds me of ones that a Bee made...but I don't remember which one. Their colors were blue, red and white!
Miss Poodle stitched her envelopes. I took inspiration from her and stitched my invitations into a booklet! I love the way it looks!
I think they look great!!! To be honest, I don't believe anything is needed, they're so cute as is!
Oh my goodness! LOOKS perfect- don't change a thing- send them out! Move on :) Great job!

I spent last weekend at a family member's house, and a group of three of us put together wedding envelopes. I wanted to just get them done and over with, but I'm worried that I might have compromised too much. I'm not really happy with the final product. I'm not sure what I can do at this point - we spent so much time on them and they're already done. I think it's the gray liner that I'm not really into. Any suggestions on what I can add/change to make it look better?
P.S. This was one of the first ones I made, so the sewing is not so great. After number 4 or 5, they were looking a lot better. I'll use these for close friends that I can explain it to. :) And, I'm going to make the zip code size a lot smaller.
