For some reason, i'm just not a big veil person. Everyone (mom, MIL, friends) seem disappointed when I say I'm not wearing a veil. I'm quite ok without wearing one, although I considered a birdcage veil.

Besides not really liking veils, my dress is a beautiful Lazaro and the back of the gown is the best part so i feel like a veil will hide that (see pic). I think I'm going to go with either a jeweled headband or flower in my hair. Anyone know where to get reasonably priced headbands/flower headpieces?

Also what do you guys think about the earring I'm wearring (they aren't the traditional bridal earrings), but I love them! I wont be doing a necklace.

BTW: the pics were taken @ my dress fitting so ignore any stick pins :)

    There aren't any pics Frown

But, I am in the same spot you are. I just got my dress and while we were shopping my mom, MOH, and bridemaids were all upset that I wouldn't be wearing a veil.  I have been looking at different headbands and flowers for my hair too. I would suggest looking on Etsy...they have such a large varuety of artists!

I didn't wear a veil - just a headband.  I bought it off etsy.  There are TONS of great options on there.

I'm not wearing a veil either.

Also, I'm dying to see a picture of your dress now. Can you try posting them again?

I'm not doing a veil either - I had some beautiful hair pins made for my hair :o)

If I was having the big Catholic church wedding how I orginally planned, then I was going to do a long Cathedral length veil - but that idea got nixed!

Check www.etsy.com for beautiful hair pins, clips, birdcage veils, etc.....relatively inexpensive as well!

I really like your earrings. The green is lovely, and I wouldn't wear a veil with them either.

I'm doing a large flower/feather clip in my hair that is pretty large (but looks great!) and no veil. I bought it my bridal salon for about $125, and have seen similar ones on etsy for around $50-$200.

I am not wearing a veil.  I think my mom and sister are disappointed, but I have no desire to wear one.

I really love your dress!  I agree that it would be a shame to hide the back when there is so much detail there.  Also, I love the punch of color your earrings bring to the outfit.

No veil here, either.  I agree with the Etsy recommendation.  There are some gorgeous handcrafted items there.  Also, you can put a request out for a custom-designed piece, too.

I didn't wear a veil and at DAvids Bridal everyone gave me a super hard time about it (and said I'd look like a Quinceanera) but at the wedding no one even seemed to notice it.

Definitely don't want to wear a veil. My friends and family don't understand why and say I have to have one. But I don't care. I would rather show off the back of my dress more and not have my hair ruined by the veil (since I would want to take it off after the ceremony anyways if I were to wear one).

Oh by the way... love the dress and the earrings. That's going to look stunning!

I love love your dress! what is the name of it??? I think it is fine if you are not wearing a veil---for me I will wear one because I will get married in a church and I want to look a little modst out of respect since I know I want a strapless dress. where is your ceremony location?

Your dress is beautiful and with those earrings, absolutely stunning - - I would look for a hair pcs on Etsy that ties in all the colors. Would you consider wearing a white/ivory/silver that matches your gown for the ceremony and then for the reception maybe change into a hairpc that has some of that gorgeous green?

I am not wearing a veil either.  I got a gorgeous hair piece from this Etsy seller, she is fantastic.

Myra from Twigs and Honey is the only way to go.  I LOVED the hairflower she made me for my wedding day.  I ended up wearing a mantilla veil for the cermeony and the flower for the reception.

Here is a picture of mine on our wedding day.  I love it so much I think I may keep it as an heirloom. (I had initally thought about selling it after the wedding.)

Thanks everyone for the help!!! I feel MUCH better about not wearing a veil, and i think i'm gonna go with a flower piece. Thanks again everyone!!

@Pat291: The dress is a Lazaro, not sure of the style name though. I found a boutique locally that sells designer gowns (floor samples bought from other boutiques) up to 50% off. So i got a steal!! The wedding is outdoors I'm in charlotte, nc.

I decided not to wear a veil. I couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of money on something I'd wear for the 30 minutes of ceremony and a few pictures.   It was also more traditional of a look then what I was going for with my dress.

No veil, headband, or hair flowers for me.  Just not my style.

I'm not wearing a veil.  I did buy one on Craigslist, but once I got it home, I was even more certain I didn't want to wear one.

I made a flower hair piece to wear instead.

I'm not wearing a veil either... or anything in my hair.  For me it's just too much!

Your dress is gorgeous!  I agree a long veil would hide or take away from the back.  A birdcage one wouldn't though, I'm sure that would be lovely if you do decide to wear one!

I really looked at your gown... WOW!  I don't think you need a veil. It's so lovely without one.

I didn't wear a veil either. I wore a big feathery fascinator that I found in a store here and bought on a whim. So glad I did!

I'm not wearing a veil either. It was never something I wanted to do... it just never even crossed my mind. Other people may feel differently, but it's just completely meaningless to me.

I know what you mean. Everyone keeps assuming that I'll wear a veil and suggesting I should, but I'm not a fan of veils and think my dress will look better without one.
