1. Our wedding bands don't match... mine is diamonds his is plain
2. I have a 1 ct diamond and though it's a size 8 now it was a 9 when he got it and it looked awesome on my finger! Anything will look great I'm sure!
I'm not sure about 3 and 4.
@HappilyEverAfter54:Thank You!!! I LOVE your ring...I may just print that pic...lol
@Dolldancer8: I haven't seen many matching wedding bands but is an idea I have been in love with. I would like to see some also!
1). Is it common for his & hers wedding bands to match?
Our's dont match:
2). What size diamond best flatters a size 9 finger? (All we looked at was 1.6-2.5 carats, but I couldn't actually get it on my big fingers).
I think 1.6-2.5 sounds lovely. I wear 4.25 and have about 1.3ct. Have you seen this handy chart?

3). How long will it take for them to put my solitaire into a setting?
My e-ring and wedding band each took about two weeks to make.
4). Is having rings custom-made super pricy?
It really depends on what you want in it in terms of stones and metal.
Some people like matching wedding bands, but when are you really going to have your rings side-by-side comparing them? Completely fine if you want them to match, but not required.
My rings (metal is platinum):
My husband's ring (metal is tungsten carbide):

I ordered my e-ring setting and the center diamond seperately. It took about an hour to have the stone set at a local jeweler. (Make sure you have your diamond insured first, as the jeweler will likely hvae you sign a waiver releasing them from any responsibility should your diamond crack while being reset. It's quite uncommon, but it does happen once in a while.)
The price of custom rings really depends on the jeweler. I suggest checking out PriceScope forums, check out the vendors people there use frequently. Some do cheaper custom work than others. Remember, expensive doesn't necessarily mean good, and cheaper doesn't necessarily mean bad.
Thank you all for your help!!! I'm SOOOOOOOOO Excited...He's tourmenting me on purpose! Lol!!!
lol! excited for you! our bands do match but i wouldn't care if they didnt:)
Any size stone will look nice as long as it sparkles! From what I've seen on this site, one of the biggest influences on stone size seems to be where people are from. I dont think anyone wants anything too far out of range.. in either direction.
A solitare setting shouldn't take too long, depends on the jeweler and how busy they are.
As for custom prices, really depends on the setting you choose. If it's completely covered in diamonds, that will obvs cost a lot more. Mine is pretty simple, plat with tapered baguettes and cost about 1500. I dont know if that's a lot or not.. guess it depends on the budget!
As for matching, I will get a plain yellow gold band in addition to whatever else I decide on so we can have matching ones like our parents do!

...to pick out a ring I will love forever...Sheesh, what did you guys think I meant? Tehehe...So I asked him for a simple solitaire with six prongs so that I could pick out a setting that I would love, and we could each have wedding bands to match. SO I have a few Questions...
1). Is it common for his & hers wedding bands to match?
2). What size diamond best flatters a size 9 finger? (All we looked at was 1.6-2.5 carats, but I couldn't actually get it on my big fingers).
3). How long will it take for them to put my solitaire into a setting?
4). Is having rings custom-made super pricy?
