I went to a department store make-up counter with my bridesmaids. Told the artist that I wanted a natural look for the day and she helped me pick out make-up that flattered and photographed well. My bridesmaids watched the woman do my make-up so they could recreate it the next day.
well since you don't really like to put any on your face b/c of breakouts, what if you just dress your eyes up and your lips? I only wear make up for special things, and whenever I put it on, it's not that much of a pain, but whatever I put on is pretty simple and fools proof lolol
Well I think for the wedding I do want full makeup. I really want to get the smoothness and evenness to my skin that you get with a good foundation/powder. I have a medium ivory skin tone with pretty normal skin (not too oily or too dry). Any ideas where to start? Will the make up counters at the dept stores let you try some things without making a purchase? I'm most concerned with the foundation/poweder. I want it to be long lasting, light, very smooth, and easy to apply.
Go with airbrush - find a makeup artist who can airbrush you with mineral makeup. It will calm any irritations and cover you flawlessly - without looking like you have a ton of makeup on! Plus it's pretty resistant to moisture, so tears or sweat won't harm ya! Good luck!
I suffer from acne too and what has helped a ton is wearing mineral makeup. It's not heavy and still provides coverage.
I don't think airbrushing is what I want. I've heard mixed reviews, don't want to spend that much $$ and don't have a lot of time in the AM. How does regular mineral makeup look in comparison?
I think practice makes perfect ... I know you don't like to put "stuff" on your face to keep it clean for acne purposes, but you should maybe buy a few pieces and practice with them. Also, do any of your bridesmaids wear make up? maybe they can help you with the application. I know that I'm not good at all with make up but a few of my girls are so I hope they'll help me! Good luck.
It's all about how you apply the makeup. Finding a good quality brush is what does the trick. Using sponges can leave streaks (if you HAVE to have sponges to do it, use a latex-free one from what I've heard!). Using your fingers can transfer bacteria and make you break out more. Go to a store like Rite-Aid that offers a money-back guarantee on their makeup so you can try a few and figure out what fits you best! Good luck!
Mineral makeup is really easy to apply and easy on the skin. I have had good results with it and I have really sensitive skin. If you have a store like Sephora near you, you can visit them and have one of the salespeople try on some mineral makeup on you, and you have no obligation to buy. And even if you do buy, you can return even after using the products and still get your money back (returns are free when you have them ship you stuff too).
One concern with mineral make-up is the amount of shine in photos. I would skip the moisturizer step in the morning and instead put toner on your face. See if you can get a travel size version of a light primer, I know some brands have it (like Smashbox). Apply that, then whatever foundation you use will go on more smoothly. Be sure not to use foundation with SPF.
For natural-looking cheeks, I'd use a peachy-pink hue (here's a clinique blush - in "precious posy"). Then dust with translucent powder - it'll absorb oil and set your make-up.
Dab a little foundation on your eyelids to work as a eye primer. Skip the guess work and just buy a duo of eyeshadow like clinque "twice the spice" and dust the light shade to your brow bone, and then use the darker shade on the outer half of your crease and lid. Then with a small wet brush, use to line your top lid with the darker shade. Finish with mascara and gloss.
I'd also practice a lot and take pictures of yourself throughout the day wearing the look, to see how it lasts. Clinique make-up is fairly inexpensive and it's all oil free, so it's a decent investment for you.
I hardly ever wear makeup. I use my makeup about 5 times a year. (for going out to a bar or holidays)
I'm actually going to get my make professional done for my wedding. I, also, don't do much to my hair either but I'm going to get my hair done too. I figure this is one of the occasions where I should be pampered. :) (well, also my cousin is owns a salons so she's doing it for free. I don't know if i would have it done, if I had to pay for it... maybe?)
I hope they have my makeup done very naturally because it will proably look like too much considering the fact I never wear makeup.
Oh, I don't really call myself a makeup applying expert either. Very far from it. So maybe if I was good at it, I would proably do it myself.
good luck!
I have tried the following:
-Smashbox primer with green tone to help even out the redness
-Makeup Forever HD primer in green
-Clinique primer with green
The winner: Clinique so far! I've been using it day to day but I don't have my trial with it until this weekend but it keeps the red at bay the most out of all of this.
My FI liked the Clinique primer with their foundation the best but we will see this weekend.
One thing I would urge is this: You will go into places and they'll do makeovers and think you should do something *more* because it's your wedding afterall but I can't recognize myself!! So no matter how hard they push don't feel obligated to do something outside of your comfort zone if you don't want to!!
If you decide to do it yourself, practice, practice, practice!!
@di5308:You may want to just hire a make up artist in the area? If you go on weddingwire.com and do a vendor search you could maybe find a cheap enough one. I only suggest a professional because I feel like the light airy skin you are looking for you'd be able to achieve really nicely with air brush make up. Good luck!
If you decide to do your own makeup, practice. I plan on doing my own and found a great website www.makeupbytiffanyd.com. Tiffany gives makeup tutorials for all kinds of looks, and I know she has a couple of videos on how to achieve a natural look. You don't have to use the products in the tutorials, just get her technique down. I've practived on some of them, and it's helped me achieve the look that i want. Also, if you plan on doing your own makeup, invest in some quality makeup brushes www.sigmabeauty.com. They really make a difference in how the makeup goes on. The brushes are a little expensive, but they are totally worth it. The only other thing I can suggest is checking out a clinique counter, and have the consultant help you pick out makeup and give you some pointers.

The subject line pretty much sums it up. I have struggled with acne my whole life and the best way I've dealt with it is by wearing no makeup, washing my face only after I've gotten sweaty, and sporadically using Aveeno Calming face lotion.
My wedding is outdoors, so I want a very natural look. Also, I have to be ready by 10:00 AM for first look and pics, so there's not time to get into a salon for hiar and makeup the morning of. What should I do? I am on a super budget, so I don't want to spend a furtune.
How much of a pain will it be to do it myself the day of? Any suggestions from those of you who did your own makeup and those who don't wear makeup daily?
