YES.
I don't know that I want a planner, I just don't want to plan it myself.
FI's got me calling a venue tomorrow, Fingers crosseed they have my date... but I don't expect them to.
It gets easier... just hire everyone else.. I HATE wedding planning.. It's almost over. I just want it to be pretty and done with.
I love it!!! i want to be a planner! Girls at my work asked me to plan theirs LOL
@surkim: The thought of searching for a venue makes me want to run away!
@Reign14: I keep getting asked why I'm having it in a central location, it's soo far away, blah blah blah.
I really want to rip off the bandaid and say "so when people like you b*tch about it being 3 hours away (in the middle of both families), I can tell you that FI's family has to travel the same amount, and WE will have to travel at least FIVE hours to get there. So if anyone should be whining, it's ME!"
But I am too nice... Now I really hope this venue is available. It's lovely.
I'm not looking forward to dress shopping at all.
@surkim: I hadn't even thought about the stress of people! I hope you get the venue you want, then at least you will have gotten the biggest part (well, one of them) out of the way.
Maybe after the venue i booked the excitement comes. But I doubt it.
@lefeymw: I hadn't even thought about that! That's a whole 'nother headache cause FH's family is huge, his mom is nosey, and my mom is annoying.
I find that it helps planning everything in stages. As you see things get marked off your check list it doesn't seem so imposing or as stressful.
If you can't afford to hire a planner you can hire a DOC instead. We have booked one and I can't wait for her to take over 6 weeks before our wedding.
I like the planning, only wish I would have done a BBB check on all the vendors since one of mine has an F.. :(
My advice, though biased considering I'm a wedding planner, is to hire a planner. Goal as wedding planner = make it fun and easy for you! I've heard people say they cannot afford a planner, but a good planner can actually save you costly mistakes and even get discounts based on their knowledge of the marketplace and connections. Not sure if any of you are in California... but I'm a wedding planner in the Bay Area. I've also lived in Central and Southern Cali, so can help there as well.
Happy Planning Ladies!

I think some people love it or hate it. Regardless, I think it becomes overwhelming for everyone. A wedding planner is the way to go if you can afford it!
What's helped me is focusing on the stuff I actually like to do. For the rest, I just grit my teeth and get it done in spurts. Or "delegate."
Find what makes you happy or what you care about and focus on that.
And/Or
Do what you guys want and know that the others will have to deal with it.
If you want it in your backyard so you can wake up and walk out the door to your wedding, do it. People that complain about driving three hours can not come if it is so inconvient for them.

I hope I can afford a wedding planner. That is all.
