As far as buying off the rack, I got a sample gown so that’s essentially what I did and my dress was perfect on the wedding day! If you love the new dress and you think you’ll be comfortable in it, I don’t see an issue!

i am having to do the same. buy of the rail. it was a sample within the shop. i have only got 12 weeks today before i get married so no time to order in a new one!

if you feel comfy and right then i say there is nothing wrong with it. your sister should be happy that you are now more comfy!

Maybe your sister won’t even noticed the difference?  (Wishful thinking)  You did the right thing.  You shouldn’t have to take chances.

I think you did the right thing. I also think it’s totally possible that your sister won’t realize it’s a different dress.

I would just say what you said here that alterations were going to cost a lot and you haven’t got the extra money to do it. I would also say you picked the new one because you knew how much she loved the look of the other one on you, well it is similar after all.

I bought off the rack and it was fine.
