- Wedding: October 2012
I am a 42-year-old, second-time-around bride. My wedding will be small, but still somewhat formal. I know I don’t want to do a full veil or too much “bling.” My dress is Da Vinci 50028:
and I am wearing this shrug, by SoshisContours on etsy:
What I’m struggling with is hair and jewelry. I have long, blonde, straight hair. I think I’d like to curl it and wear it up, sort of like this:
I would like some sort of hairpiece. Maybe a headband like the model is wearing. Maybe a fascinator of some type (a flower? Feathers?). Maybe even a short bird cage veil.
My concern is that I want to look elegant – not overdone. There is not a lot of beading on the dress, but there is the one rhinestone cluster at the waist. What hairpiece do you think would (or definitely would NOT) go with this dress?
In jewelry, I’m not sure whether to wear a necklace or just longer, sparkly earrings. The model in the dress pic is obviously very simple, but I think that is just to show off the dress. I’d like a bit more than that, but again, don’t want to overdo it.
I think my concern comes down to wanting to look elegant and being afraid of ending up looking like a forty-something prom crasher. My first wedding was 23 years ago and styles were just slightly different then!
Help! (And thanks!)
