It seemed like that a month out but then everyone was calling me the two weeks before.  We seriously did the DJ stuff on the Sunday before our Friday wedding.  It was a little stressfull, so you might want to reach out to the DJ and get the music all straight……

With just under  a month till your wedding, you’re just now making your way to the top of the vendor’s radar.  I wouldn’t worry, especially since you say they are responsive when they need anything. They just like to focus on the events that are right upon them— 2-3 week timeframe, at least from my experience with my vendors— and anything that happens beyond that is not on their to-do list.  Trust me, when you’re on your final countdown, you’ll be glad your vendors are giving you all their attention rather than spending some time every day working with people whose events are further out!

I feel the same.  I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was wedding season and they were all pretty busy.  But at some point in the next few months I expect some attention.  I WILL NOT be planning this wedding the week before.  Will not! Will Not! 🙂

I’d start calling to confirm details. I’m getting married the week before you and we don’t meet with our DJ until 10/23

Our photographer is coming to our rehearsal dinner to get a ‘lay of the land’ and so is our videographer, that way they can meet and work out their logistics. I’ll be touching base with everyone the week before the wedding just to confirm details, I’ll probably confirm by phone then follow up with an email with address details/directions just so they can print them if necessary.

Our venue coordinator has been great, we touch base about every 3 weeks just to see how things are going and we met last week and have another meeting 4 days before the wedding so that I can drop everything off, give final numbers, make final payment etc

@cant.wait.to.be.mrs.d:

Yeah I haven’t heard from our photog or our dj, I guess we’ll do all that when we get there…seems oddly quiet and a tad bit unsettling.

I’m glad to know that I’m not the only person who has felt this way.  I just had another meeting with my coordinator, so I feel tons better.  I send messages to my photographer via facebook (she is crazy busy) and she has photographed at my venue before, so I’m okay there too.  I do agree that I don’t like doing things at the last minute, but they are the experts!

Definitely give a buzz/extend the branch to keep communication open. Our caterer dropped an invoice with $700 in extra costs the day before yesterday, technically 2 days before our wedding.  Our DJ is quiet, too.  Once I gave him our planner, he really doesn’t need much from me unless he can’t find a song, which is ridiculously rare.

Yeah we found no one wanted to really talk to us until about three weeks out.  You’ll start getting calls soon if your wedding date on your post is accurate.  The last two weeks are a whirlwind.  I mean, they were responsive when I called or emailed, but they didn’t reach out for the better part of a year unless I did.

Haven’t realy heard from any of my vendors since paying deposits or making my pyments with them and signing contracts.  They have my date, have my info and my money.  I’ll touch base with them later this month and then again a week or so before the wedding.
