So I am getting married in September, and right now I feel zero motivation to work out! Granted, I work 40+ hours a week in a factory with no a/c, and that is rough. When I get home, I don’t want anything to do with going back out in the heat for a walk or anything like that. I’ve thought of getting a gym membership, but we are moving away after the wedding, so that wouldn’t make sense to do. I’m in a rut!!

@roweboat: No AC?????? I’d make an OSHA complaint, post-haste!

@roweboat: No AC? Wow. Harsh.
ETA: I used to jog in place, do crunches, and leg exercises in the house before I got to be super lazy. Haha.

do you have a Wii? Do you have AC at home? I feel ya, maybe just reduce your caloric intake – I lost weight that way w/o exercising. Drink water and no beverages with calories. You could shed at least 5-10 pounds.

Have you tried any fitness DVD’s that you can do at home? I have a few from Jillian Michaels that are really tough but they are full body work outs and only take about 30 minutes.

@Carolyn72: This is a really good tip too!! Cutting out soft drinks and alcohol makes a huge difference! Instead of getting beer, wine or a mixed cocktail, I would order a vodka soda which has way fewer calories.

Lots of gyms now are month to month with no year contract. If not a traditional gym, how about a pilates or yoga studio with set class times?

If you ave a planet fitness in your area you can go month to month or transfer your gym membership.
Its damn hot in Kentucky in the summer!!! You need to be in AC!!!

@StuporDuck: Yep, no A/c! Doesn’t help that we have been under a heat advisory. :- Luckily, I will only be there a couple more months.
@Carolyn72: I’m really good about drinking water 95% of the time. Sometimes I’ll have a sprite or some sweet tea.
@deedledee19: I find myself getting lazy when it comes to Dvd’s at home, lol. I lost 7 pounds in a month doing the 30-day shred by Jillian. I just can’t kick my butt in gear to do that at home anymore!

im in a simuliar rut. only reading yours makes me feel more lazy. I only work part time. The other time I spend by myeself in our one bedroom apartment. My Fiance works afternoons an hr away. I have no desire to clean, cook, or do anything! urg..

@out4answers: haha you sound like me. I’m on summer break from grad school and luckily didn’t need to get a job for the summer, just taking one summer class, but my Fiance kind of hates me since I don’t have any desire to do ANYTHING, while he is working 50 hours a week plus going to culinary school. *sigh* I weigh more than I ever have and I’d like to lose weight but… so lazy….
it’s damn hot in our non-insulated upstairs apartment in Los Angeles too, but wowwww no A/C and working all day in a factory? That’s nuts. Is that even legal? I definitely wouldn’t work out after coming home from that 🙁

@Carolyn72: This is pretty good if you don’t have time to workout – I lost a good 5kg with barely any changes to my fitness regime (which was nonexistant at the time!), just from being careful what I ate – it’s slow, but it works and leaves you feeling healthier! http://www.calorieking.com is a good site to show how many calories are in everything 🙂
Failing that, there are ways you can build incidental exercise into your day, whether that’s by getting off the bus a few blocks early and walking the rest of the way, riding a bike to work, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, getting a basket instead of a trolley when grocery shopping, the list goes on!
