I haven't gotten my ring appraised, I bought a blanket coverage that covers any jewelry up to the limit (which I got at like $500 more than what my FI paid for the ring). Made me feel a lot better to have the insurance. I was so worried I was going to damage it more than loose it. I'm a huge klutz.

yeah i've only had my ring for a week and i was so scared somthing was going to happen to it!! Don't know why i felt that way maybe because its so new. I feel way way better now that i have the whole ring covered incase anything happens to it.

My e-ring came with an appraisal that was higher than the amount that FI.  We definitely got ring insurance because I'm absent-minded at times and I want to wear my e-ring everywhere everyday.  Considering how much and how long my FI saved to buy the e-ring, I can't imagine what it would be like if I lost it. For me, a small amount of money for a peace of mind is worth it.

I got my ring insured too, and I feel SO much better.  I am an uber klutz and very forgetful so the idea that my ring would crumble after slamming my hand in the door, or i would lose it somewhere is not too far off.  And yes, I also noticed that my ring appraised for a lot more than what my FI paid for it.  Incidentally, I dreamed that I lost a stone out of my ring last night, and in my dream I said, "well thank goodness I bought that insurance policy" LoL!

Our jeweler sent the appraisal papers with the ring so we were able to send the paperwork off right away after we got engaged. Getting my ring insured was the first thing we did after we called everyone with our big news :) Definitely worth the extra $10 a month (or so) -- we have all our insurance through USAA, and they were able to just add it on to our plan. Definitely gave FI & I peace of mind to know if anything were to ever happen, we'd be covered!

Mine is insured, it only costs about $40 a year.  It is an add-on to our renter's insurance.  I like the peace of mind that if the stone fell out, or I dropped it down a drain, or if I chipped the stone, it would just be taken care of.

I added my e-ring to homeowner's policy. FI thought it was unnecessary, at a cost of about $90/year. I decided the peace-of-mind is well worth the insurance pricetag and went ahead anyway. Losing it or having it stolen would be bad enough without being unable to replace it without hardship.

FI had the ring insured before he gave it to me.  It's added on as a rider to our renter's insurance.  It's expensive, but well worth the price.  You never know what can happen, so it's better to be safe.

I don't have insurance on mine since he had it custom made with a small jeweler.  We tried to add it to our homeowner's insurance and the state of FL no longer allows you to do so.  Any suggestions as to where I can try to insure it?

I asked him not to even give it to me/propose until that sucker was insured. I'm a klutz. It's on our renters insurance too. We're looking to buy a co-op/condo so when we move it'll go on our homeowners insurance.

Driver430.... we got mine from a small town called Whitefish Mt from a local jeweler also. Where i get my car insurance did it for me and it only cost us 70 dollars a year and thats for an appraisal of 7200 dollars. They just added it right onto my deduction of car insurance. Try that!

Yep, got mine appraised and insured ASAP and then after I had it reset from a solitiare to a three stone we had it appraised again and had to change the insurance policy. I think it's just over $100 a year or so, but well worth the piece of mind.
