I am the one who got a job in Japan and moved here… I am the one who decided to stay at my job for two years instead of one… I am the one who is putting this strain on our relationship, and he’s done nothing but be encouraging and supportive and reassure me that we will be so much stronger for having made it through this.
How did I get so lucky?

us long distance girls are very lucky to have patient FH’s! luckily mine’s only 9 hours (heh. ONLY.) away, but that’s for another 2 or 3 years (meaning a year or 2 being married and living apart) unless one of us gives up our great jobs. i feel your pain :/

I’m sure that he understands. Sometimes, you need to do something that is good for your career and your guy is great enough to understand that.

That has to be tough. It sounds like you two make a great team though and I hope your time apart goes by quickly! I can imagine though that when you do get to see each other you don’t take a moment for granted which is something we could all learn from 🙂

Thanks for the support, ladies. 🙂

Regina, I totally understand. I’ve got a great guy that has his life fully in order, and I’m the one that decided to go to Medical School and has no idea where I’ll complete my residency training.
The most wonderful part of a long distance relationship is that you really learn how to communicate. We both feel like we communicate better than most other couples we know because that’s all we have when we are apart. Does the distance put a strain on us? Yes, but it has also allowed us to build an incredibly strong foundation for our relationship. 🙂

oooh girl I know the feeling!
I was that lucky too, while we were in LDR, and now that I moved back and am trying to find a job? The only pressure J gives is that he wants me to find a job where I’ll be happy and fulfilled, doing something I love, not just take something that pays the bills. And he’s happy to support us financially (and me emotionally) until I find it! Love makes them (and us, haha) do awesomely crazy things. 🙂

@ChicChick: That’s a great point! (Video chat = best invention EVER.) Because of the time difference one of us usually ends up having to sacrifice sleep to talk, but it’s so worth it 🙂
It sounds like we all have loving and supportive guys!
