my wedding is in FOUR months and my bridesmaids still don’t have their dresses.
I thought I was super easy going.. letting them pick the dress. I just requested the color and length.
one of my bridesmaids went to buy her dress and said that nothing fit. she is going to wait two weeks to do cardio and boot camp. I have been engaged for 2 years. She knew she was going to be in the wedding LONG ago. I gave her a deadline of August 12th. She wants to wait a week after that. Alfred Angelo offers dress sizes all the way up to 30W. There is no reason she didn’t buy the dress. She can’t be larger than a size 16. I’m so mad!
I just don’t understand how she decides to lose weight now when she’s known for almost two years. ughhhh
What do I do?!?!

@nemoandthebrain: Girl, I am you, but 3 months in the future. I only had 2 bridesmaids (now 3) so I thought it would be simple…:-/ The only rules I had were:
1: pick out or make something that you like.
2: here are 5 colors that I like. You can pick one of these, or send me a picture of what you want.
3: Try to find a dress that hits around your knee
4: Try to avoid shiny fabrics for our outdoor wedding.
THOSE CRAZY GIRLS HAVE BEEN DRIVING ME UP THE WALL!!!!!!!!! From not communicating to me what they were interested in, to ignoring the no shiny fabric comment. Lol. Last Friday I just laid out the law. Here are 5 dresses at David’s Bridal (for quyality reasons I wanted to avoid them, but what’s done is done) These are the item numbers, these are the prices. Here are some coupon codes if you want to order them online. Pick one. The only color allowed is Coral Reef. Have a dres sin hand by August 20th or you’ll make me cry. 😛
Sometimes, you just have to take control, I guess. :-/

3 months is all you need to order and have altered but i understand the frunstration.
you gave the drop dead date of august 12. you need to hold them to that.
talk to her, tell her how you feel, tell her that is takes 3 months to order and you don’t want to stress over this.

@ajillity81: My bridal salon told me 6 months. And if we ordered after that day, then we would have to pay a $45 rush fee.

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
Deep breaths. As long as your maid does not show up to your wedding in a meat dress, it will all be okay.

@nemoandthebrain: I would let her know the timeframe for an order date and that while you understand her concern regarding losing more weight, the dress is going to need to be altered anyway so she should go ahead and order and worry about sizing it down during alterations. Keep in mind, if she orders too late your problem is solved on its own because she won’t have a dress to wear.

@FoxyBride14: OP mentioned Alfred Angelo which is where I got my BM dresses.
They told me 3 months max, dresses came in in less than 2.

Maybe the reality of the wedding has just hit her now and she’s not happy with her figure and is trying to do a quick fix.
You still have plenty of time until your wedding so maybe give her the one week she asked for to fix up and if she’s still pissing around after that put your foot right down!

I did the same thing as you – told my bridesmaids that they could wear whatever they want as long as the dresses are long and black. My wedding is in three months. I honestly have no idea who has a dress and who doesn’t. I haven’t asked and they haven’t told me. The thing is – I’m positive that each one of my girls will show up that day with a long black dress. I trust that they’re responsible enough to do that. If she wants to be your bridesmaid, relax and trust that she’ll take care of this.
